The latest update forMultiVersushas gotten rid of Velma’s police car.MultiVersuslaunched last month to mostly positive reviews, with many praising the game as a solid free-to-play alternative toSuper Smash Bros.Developer Player First Games has released multiple updates forMultiVersussince launch, tweaking the game’s balance, introducing new stages, and adding new characters to the roster. The latestMultiVersusupdate, besides getting rid of Velma’s police car, also added Gizmo fromGremlinsto the lineup.
Velma has been a part of theMultiVersusroster since launch. One of the game’s fewSupport characters, Velma is an incredibly dangerous fighter in the right hands. One of the more unique aspects of her character is how Velma is able to collect “clues” that are dropped around the stage to fill up a meter. Prior to the latest update, filling up the meter let Velma call the police on her opponents. A cop car would then spawn into the game, pick up whoever Velma targeted the attack at, and then try to drive off the stage with the opponent in tow.

Velma’s cop car didn’t really create much controversy in the grand scheme of things, but some fans still saw it in bad taste. In any case, Player First Games has decided to get rid of Velma’s cop car with thelatestMultiVersusupdate, but her special move remains in the game. Instead of Velma calling the cops on her opponents, though, she now summons the Mystery Machine, which is more appropriate for her character anyway, and gives the game even moreScooby-Doorepresentation.
Scooby-Doois one of the most well-represented franchises inMultiVersusat the time of this writing. Besides Velma and her new Mystery Machine, the roster also includes Shaggy, with an alternate skin that adds his uncle Shagworthy to the mix. Shaggy has been one of the most highly-publicized characters on theMultiVersusroster, as the game brings theUltra Instinct Shaggy memeto life.
It’s possible otherScooby-Dooseries character will come toMultiVersusin future updates, but plans to add any of them have not been announced at the time of this writing. The bigMultiVersuscharacter list leakhas suggested that Scooby-Doo himself will be coming toMultiVersuseventually, but if that is indeed the case, it’s unclear when it will happen.
As it stands,MultiVersusfans have at least three more new characters to look forward to before Season 1 wraps up on November 15. Gizmo was just added in the latest update, while future updates will introduce Rick Sanchez fromRick and Morty, Black Adam, andStripe fromGremlins.
MultiVersusis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
