Ms. Marveldidn’t just introduce the first female South Asian and Muslim superhero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it also launched the Hollywood careers of many popular South Asian actors. Award-winning Pakistani actor Mehwish Hayat is just one of them, debuting as Kamala Khan’s great-grandmother Aisha in the latest Disney Plus series, and she hopes that her character’s story will get picked up for a spin-off series.
Hayat’s character Aisha inMs. Marvelwas a part of the Clan Destine, or Djinns. Her clan is on the lookout for a pair of magical bangles, which will help them “go back home.” The series explores their journey and Aisha’s fate, but a lot of questions still remain unanswered. Hayat believes that perhaps the studio could work on developing Aisha’s backstory further, to help fans understandthe Clan Destine’s originsand how they discover the bangles to begin with.

Nimra Bucha’s Najma briefly explains who the Clan Destine are inMs. Marvelepisode 3. Despite that, fans have many more questions about these powerful, supposedly immortal, beings from the so-called Noor dimension. While the studio has not confirmed a spin-off series, Hayat is ready to reprise her character to help clarify any doubts that fans may have. In an interview withPop Culture, the actor made it clear that she doesn’t know anything about a possible spin-off, but she hopes the studio decides to work on one. “There were a lot of questions that were left unanswered, like, ‘What were we doing? Why were we not able to go back home? Why were we stuck in that place…,” she said.
Hayat also refers to the fact that when Waleed first meetsIman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, he talks about Aisha and her legendary story. “How do they know each other? What happened? Exactly, how did they come in contact?” It seems like Hayat has the same questions that many fans have asked on social media forums. In her opinion, there is still so much more that “can be explored” and needs to be addressed, and creating a Clan Destine spin-off series would be the perfect idea. “I think so much can be done, and there are amazing show creators out there who must, at least, listen to us,” she said.
While she claims to be in the dark, she also revealed thatafter working onMs. Marvel, she realized she “can keep a secret.” When she was filming in Bangkok, she confessed that she had to “disappear.” She couldn’t take any photographs and share them on social media, and the only images she posted were selfies, which didn’t reveal her location. “It was the most difficult part, keeping a secret. But it actually proved something to me — that I can really keep a secret,” she said. Is she keeping a spin-off series a secret? Time will tell.
