EA Motive’sDead Spaceremake releases this January, and hot on its heels anIron Mangame that Motive also has in development. Motive has been surprisingly transparent about its development on the remake since the project was announced, and recently it releasedDead Space’s first official gameplay trailer. Excitement around the remake has not died down since its announcement, as sci-fi horror fans have always been eager for moreDead Spacecontent. This bodes well for Motive’sIron Mangame if it decides to have fun with its additional cosmetics.

Indeed, with all the hard work Motive has put into its complete refurbishing ofDead Space, it will be interesting to see how the studio pivots to anIron Mangame. When looking at the character of Tony Stark alone, there are several interesting pieces of iconography that he andDead Space’s Isaac Clarkeshare. They are both engineers, although with different pedigrees, and both are inseparable from myriad suits of armor that give them certain abilities. Therefore, Motive should strongly consider including RIG suits fromDead Spaceas cosmetic skins in itsIron Mangame.

EA Motive’s Iron Man Will Likely Have Many Suits

Tony Stark is known for not building a single Iron Man suit, but a plethora of them. He typically dons the iconic red and gold suit in most situations, but the character’s source material has depicted an abundance of suits that Tony has manufactured for different purposes. Like Isaac Clarke, players will almost assuredly be changing into new suits of armor. Further, unique suits should be depicted in Motive’sIron Mangame with different abilities in gameplay. This could boil down to different stats assigned to suits, but it could also mean that different suits may have different capabilities or weapons.

One suit may concentrate all of its technology on repulsor energy, for example, while another draws on the War Machine suit, with shoulder turrets and wrist rockets—not to mention a Proton Cannon fromMarvel vs. Capcom, which could vaporize enemies. There are many permutations of suits that Motive could add if it wants to diversify gameplay this way, adding another layer ofcustomization that would be perfect for anIron Mangame.

Either way, even if suits are merely cosmetic in how they are distinct from one another, there is great potential. Further, because Motive has been working onDead Space, it only makes sense for an additional cosmetic to be added that allows Tony Stark to don a RIG.

RIGs are essential toDead Space’s iconography.RIGs have a minimalist HUD UI along the suit’s spine, for example, which has now inspiredThe Callisto Protocol’s own HUD UIon the back of Jacob Lee’s neck. From a gameplay perspective, RIGs contain Stasis stores, hold oxygen tanks for Isaac to breathe when a part of the USG Ishimura is blown apart, and allow him to maneuver with a modest flight system. Because RIGs are jet-propelled on the soles of the armor’s feet, they already echo Iron Man’s flight.

Moreover, flight will be interesting to see in Motive’sIron Mangame, especially if it is designed fromDead Space’s own hovering system. Iron Man’s flight is much faster with more fluidity and control through city streets, and as such it will need to be expanded on extensively. However, this should not deter Motive from wanting to implementaDead SpaceRIG as a cosmetic skin.

Motive could choose to only iterate on Isaac’s original RIG for a cosmetic, or it could also offer multiple RIGs from theDead Spaceremake as optional skins. If Motive wanted to go the extra mile, it could even integrate the player’s health UI into the RIG when players wear one, but fans would likely be happy enough with RIGs as a cosmetic option in theIron Mangame.
