Mortal Kombat 11game director has a habit of teasing fans on Twitter, and that’s exactly what he did on September 1. Tweeting to his near 600,000 Twitter followers, Ed Boon stated, “I see a tease in our future….” without further elaboration. The officialMortal Kombat 11Twitter account then responded to that tweet with a meme of Liu Kang trying to decipher what Boon could possibly mean by the statement, as it lacks any other details beyond that a new “tease” is coming.
However, Boon didn’t just tease about a future tease. He also took the time to address one of the most recent “leaks” aboutMortal Kombat 11, specifically in regards to Bruce Campbell appearing in the game asEvil Dead’s Ash Williams. Recently, Scorpion’s voice actor suggested that Campbell was indeed coming toMortal Kombat 11as Ash Williams, which Boon has now called out as being incorrect. “The silver lining to the many ‘leaks’ is … there are so many wrong ones….. which conveniently drown out the true ones!” he said on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the other recentMortal Kombat 11leak came from a datamine of the game’s files, which seemed to indicate that there is 19 more pieces of DLC on the way for the popular fighting game. Whether this means19 DLC charactersor 19 new skins remains to be seen, but Boon didn’t address that particular leak.
Another “leak” came from frequentMortal Kombat 11leaker thethiny, who suggested that fan favorite characterMileena is coming toMK11as DLCat some point down the line. Fans have been asking for Mileena DLC since before the game was launched, with many upset by her absence. NetherRealm hasn’t seemed interested in adding Mileena so far, but it’s certainly within the realm of possibility that Boon has had a change of heart about adding the character to the game.
If there are moreMortal Kombat 11DLC characters planned, it will be interesting to see if they are released together or individually over time. The first batch ofMortal Kombat 11DLC characters were released over the course of many months, whereas the latest trio of characters were added to the game all at once as part of theAftermathexpansion. There have been persistent rumors about a potential Kombat Pack 2 adding more DLC characters to the game, but nothing has been announced so far.
Of course, it could be that NetherRealm has no plans for moreMortal Kombat 11DLC charactersand is instead focusing on its next project. There are rumors thatInjustice 3is in development, and with next-gen consoles on the horizon, it wouldn’t be surprising if the studio is ready to move on.
Mortal Kombat 11is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
