Summary

A skilledMortal Kombat 1player recently demonstrated just how deadly Shang Tsung is by showing off a wild 89-hit combo. The wicked, soul-stealing sorcerer that has terrorized theMortal Kombatuniverse since the first game has returned asone ofMortal Kombat 1’s primary antagonists, having joined forces with other past villains like Kronika, Quan Chi, and General Shao in a bid to restore his former power in Liu Kang’s reset timeline. Players battle Shang Tsung multiple times inMortal Kombat 1’s story campaign, and those who pre-ordered the game ahead of its launch earlier this month can unleash his dark magic for themselves.

Shang Tsung is a rather versatile fighter inMortal Kombat 1, using his powerful sorcery and martial arts to batter his enemies into submission long enough tounleash one of his gruesome Fatalitiesfor the win. He can also transform into an older version of himself or a duplicate of his opponent, which grants him access to even more attacks and special moves. AddingMortal Kombat 1’s new Kameo system to the mix means that Shang Tsung has a near-limitless limitless amount of combos at his disposal, and some players are figuring out creative ways to pummel their opponents as Outworld’s deadliest mage.

A Twitter user andMortal Kombat 1player DuckKilla_212 recently posted a clip of an impressive combo from Shang Tsung, one that allowed them to strike their opponent no less than 89 times. The combo in question mainly utilizes Shang Tsung’s special Ground Skull attack to continuously hit the enemy as they fall from the ground after the last blow, with the occasional melee hit from Tsung or fireball attack from his Kameo ally Scorpion to keep his helpless foe airborne.

Part of the fun of any fighting game is finding new and impressive combinations, andMortal Kombat 1is proving no differentin the weeks since its launch. NetherRealm’s newest brawler is much faster and combo-driven than ever before, though players can get a reprieve from a particularly brutal assault by summoning their Kameo character for a Combo Breaker. These are somewhat limited and require a full Meter to pull off - something that the unfortunate Baraka player caught in Shang Tsung’s seemingly endless onslaught lacks.

Nonetheless, Shang Tsung’s almost 90-hit combo is an impressive display of skill and certainly on-brand for the ruthless sorcerer looking to spread his control throughout Outworld and beyond. AsMortal Kombat 1continues to be playedonline and at live events in the near future, fans will certainly get to see newer and more impressive combos in the latest fighting game sensation - and Shang Tsung wouldn’t have it any other way.

Mortal Kombat 1is available now for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
