While most of the fun inMonster Huntercomes with seeing which wild creatures players can take down with each other, what may be even more fun is the variety of weapons and their playstyles across each title. Just like inMonster Hunter: World,Monster Hunter Risefeatures14 different weapon types,not to mention each weapon having its own trees containing a myriad of variants, each with unique attributes.
While each ofMonster Hunter Rise’s weapons feels unique and balanced, one that has garnered a lot of attention from fans is the Charge Blade. The Charge Blade has long been considered one of the game’s more complicated weapons to learn, but the payoff is that players can pull off some incredibly heavy damage combos. While the weapon’s morphing design may seem far-fetched, one fan has created a DIY concept showing how it could work in real life.

Japanese YouTuber DanCreator specializes in DIY cardboard creations and has put together an amazing recreation ofMonster Hunter Rise’s Charge Blade.In concept, the blade is fully functional, allowing it to switch from sword form into axe form, with a usable shield as well. The particular Charge Blade made by DanCreator looks to be the fan-favorite Regas Hyper.
DanCreator’s video overview of the Charge Blade’s creation shows just how much attention to detail was put into creating the cardboard sword. Just like the Regas Hyper inMonster Hunter Rise, DanCreator shows the blade has more mechanical parts, as the head of the axe quickly transforms into a removable shield. In addition to the Regas Hyper, DanCreator has also uploaded videos showing the creation of DIY cardboard versions of both the Kamura Ninja Blade Long Sword and the Kamura Cleaver Great Sword. It would likely be impossible to swing around some ofMonster Hunter’s wildest weapons,but DanCreator’s videos show some nice proofs of concept.
Just last week,Monster Hunter Risereceived a sizable 2.0 updateadding new Event Quests, Layered Armor, some fan-favorite monsters, and more. Players have been gearing up to take on the Elder Dragons Kushala Daora, Teostra, and Chameleos, and many look forward to another update coming later this month with even more new monsters, an all-new story ending, and more.
Monster Hunter Risehas been a huge success for Capcom, further propelling the series into the mainstream after the success ofMonster Hunter: World. The newest installment has already surpassed over six million copies sold, andbecame 2021’s fourth best-selling video gamein its debut month of March.
