Killstreaks are a massive part of theCall of Duty: Modern Warfareexperience. Both new and veteran players have either fallen victim to one or felt the amazing adrenaline rush of unleashing terror upon the other team. One of the most dreaded and feared killstreaks inModern Warfareis known as the Gunship.
There are tons of guides, suggestions, and tips on how to destroy one of these floating fortresses. Most of them cause several deaths in the process, but one clever fan has found a one-shot solution to ending the aerial terror’s threat. The solution is not anRPG or Strela launcher, but rather another killstreak. In this case, players are fighting fire with more explosive fire.

The video starts with the launch of aCruise Missile killstreak. The auto-lock spots several potential victims on the surface below but instead, this player turns the missile towards the sky. In the distance, and enemy Gunship is laying down deadly and suppressive fire upon the fireteams on the surface. Casually aiming towards the Gunship the player guides the Cruise Missile preparing for impact. As the Cruise Missle hits its target the screen cuts out and the XP reward “Boss Battle” pops up giving the inventive player 250 extra points.
For several players, the XP reward of “Boss Battle” is a new discovery. It had not crossed many player’s minds to turn the killstreaks on each other. Other fans in the comments say that the whole reason they run Cruise Missiles is for the purpose ofremoving Gunships from the match. Although there are other routes for destroying the killstreak, none are as effective as this choice.
TheCruise Missile is a fan favorite choicewhen it comes to killstreak selection. Although other killstreaks can provide more tactical and longterm rewards barely any of them have the versatility of the Cruise Missile. Not much can stop it but some fans vouch for the ability of a trophy system claiming that placing one on top of Rust can prevent the impending doom.
Other fan alternatives to destroying the Gunship or VTOL include LMGs, Launchers, and simply ignoring them. If players worked together they could gun down a Gunship with only their standard loadout, but that kind of teamwork is rare within theModern Warfarecommunity. With so many other threats present midmatch changing focus can be a deadly decision.
