One of the biggest PS4 exclusives wasInsomniac’sSpider-Mangame, which has been hailed as one of the best superhero video games to date. ConsideringSpider-Man’s financial and critical success, it’s no surprise thatSpider-Man 2is likely on the way, but now a massive new leak may reveal a lot more about what the game will have in store.
Like with any video game leak, fans should take this information with a grain of salt. The leak originates from Reddit user throwawayquarantine8, who claims to have a contact that watched an Insomniac meeting that took place over Zoom on April 17 that featured an extended video onSpider-Man 2. We know that an Insomniac Games meetingdidtake place on April 17 thanks to a tweet by Community Director James Stevenson, but it’s possible that the leaker is just using that to make their claims seem more credible.

According to the leaker,Spider-Man 2will start withPeter Parkerhaving a conversation with Mary-Jane Watson aboutThe Daily Bugleand J. Jonah Jameson. It will initially be set in the winter time, with physics to match. The game will supposedly have “seven dynamic weather types,” with light rain, light snow, and heavy snow showcased in the Zoom call.
The leak goes on to say that there will be dynamic missions throughSpider-Man 2’s open world, with examples being balloon missions from theSpider-Man 2movie video game, saving construction workers hanging off buildings, taking people to hospitals, and rescuing people from burning buildings.Spider-Man 2will also have meatier side missions, including a fight withMysterio, a side mission with Daredevil, and a race against the Human Torch called “Fantastic and Fiery.”
As far as the main story goes, it will revolve around theVenom symbiote, which has apparently originated in a lab at OsCorp inSpider-Man 2. The symbiote will initially be bonded with Harry as a way to cure his life-threatening illness before becoming bonded with Peter, giving him his classic black suit from the comics. Players will be able to swap to the symbiote suit whenever they want, and each suit in the game has its own symbiote version. Other suits apparently shown during the presentation include the “advanced suit” as well as the Sam Raimi suit from the movies.
Besides giving Spider-Man a new look, thesymbiote suit inSpider-Man 2will also change up how combat works, allowing players to be more aggressive than usual. It will also have its own dedicated skill tree that players can level up.
The presentation also apparently showed off some gameplay withMiles Morales, who will come into conflict with Peter Parker at certain points during the story. Norman Osborn is also seen, with a hint that he may become his Green Goblin persona during the course ofSpider-Man 2’s story.
Finally, theSpider-Man 2Zoom presentation ended with the reveal of three DLC packs: one based onMorbius, another based on Carnage, and a third based on Wraith.
Luckily, fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to find out if there’s any truth to this so-called leak. Apparently,Spider-Man 2is set to be revealed late summer, possibly in August, depending on how the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues. TheSpider-Man 2release dateis said to be holiday 2021 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive game.
Spider-Man 2is rumored to be in development, exclusively for the PS5.
