Marvel Snapreleases new cards on a regular occasion, sometimes even adding two new cards in one week! This week, Nocturne made herMarvel Snapdebut and has the chance to revive (or at least add some interest to) the move deck archetype again.
Move decks have fallen out ofMarvel Snap’s meta in recent months, but Nocturne’s ability to move, and also change a location while doing it, could add some interest for players. While she probably won’t be the centerpiece of a deck, she is a versatile card and can be a useful addition no matter what your strategy is.

Best Nocturne Decks in Marvel Snap
One thing to understand about Nocturne, is that she likely won’t be the centerpiece of any deck. She is a great addition to many different decks, but her role will be a more versatile one, similar to Jeff. Her ability states, “you may move this once. When this moves, replace its location with a random new one.” This means that when she moves, the location is replaced with a random location. This can be good or bad, but there’s no way to tell until after the effect occurs. This makes her a risky card to play, but it will likely work out in the player’s favor more often than not. She isn’t totally random though, as players can strategically use her ability to get rid of a harmful location, or a location that benefits the opponent’s deck.
You can move this once. When this moves, replace its location with a random new one.

The Blue Surfer
Silver Surferdecks have waxed and waned since his debut in the mobile game, but when a new 3-Cost card drops, the first thing to check is whether it works well with the Herald of Galactus. Thankfully, Nocturne is a great fit for a Silver Surfer deck! Surfer decks are great due to their simplicity. The ideal victory condition is to throw down as many 3-Cost cards as possible then finish off on turn six with Silver Surfer, boosting the Power of all of them. Brood is a great way to fill up a lane with 3-Cost cards!
To get the most out of Silver Surfer, he should be the final 3-Cost card played, as he only boosts the Power of cards already revealed on the board. A way you can achieve this is by placing him behind Invisible Woman. She will cause Surfer to be revealed after the game ends, ensuring that every 3-Cost card gets a boost. Absorbing Man

Elsa Bluestone
The focus of this deck is to get the Power-boosting cardsAngela,Kraven, andElsa Bloodstonedown as early as possible and then use the other bounce and movement cards (likeKitty Pryde,Ghost-Spider,Silk,Jeff, etc.) to increase your lane Power. There are plenty of cards that can move like Silk, Jeff, Nightcrawler, Nocturne, Ghost-Spider, and Spider-Man. All of these movement cards will also lower the Cost of Miles Morales. Shang-Chi is the easiest card to swap out if you favor a different tech card, but he can come in handy when the opponent makes a large play.

Ms. Nocturne
Nocturne is a great card to slot into a Ms. Marvel deck. Because Ms. Marvel boosts the Power of adjacent lanes only if there are two cards of differing Costs there, Nocturne can make the jump to a different lane with her move ability if needed. This can come in handy more than you’d realize. This deck really emphasizes using Ongoing abilities to boost the Power across the board. Mister Fantastic, Klaw, Ms. Marvel, and Blue Marvel all have Power-boosting abilities that can be made even stronger with the strategic placement of Onslaught. This deck can easily net +20-Power in two lanes, giving it a pretty great win ratio.

Best Nocturne Counters in Marvel Snap
Nocturne is in an interesting position as she does not fall into the category of On Reveal or Ongoing cards, so she can’t be countered by the usualCosmoorEnchantress. Really, Nocturne’s biggest enemy is herself. While her move ability can come in handy, the location change can be a dice roll at best.
Players won’t get to choose what location emerges when Nocturne moves, so there’s always a chance that it turns into a location that negatively impacts your gameplay strategy. TheSpace Throne,Weirdworld, orDistrict Xare locations that come to mind right away, as they all have the ability to end a successful game quickly. There isn’t much that can be done about this risk, however, so you should just be cautious when changing locations with Nocturne.

Best Nocturne Synergies in Marvel Snap
Nocturne synergizes with most cards present in a stereotypical move deck. The main move deck card to highlight is Kraven, as his Power will be boosted when a card moves into his lane. Since you have the ability to choose where Nocturne moves, this is an easy +2-Power for the lane containing Kraven.Elsa Bloodstoneis also a great card to pair with Nocturne, because she can boost Nocturne’s Power if she fills a lane and then Nocturne can move to another lane, clearing space for a second card to be boosted. Both of these synergies are present in the decks listed above, but there are plenty of other cards that work well with Nocturne (Silver Surfer,Miles Morales, andAngelato name a few).
Should you get Nocturne in Marvel Snap?
Nocturne is a Series Five card. This means players can obtain her in two different ways, through theToken Shop(by spending6,000 Tokens) or through theSpotlight Cachesystem (usingSpotlight Keys). Tokens are pretty hard to come by so 6,000 Tokens will likely take some time to save up. Spotlight Keys are far more common, but spending them only gives a chance (a 25% chance, to be exact) at obtaining Nocturne.
Nocturne is a great card and has a ton of versatility, but it is a card that probably won’t make a hefty appearance in the game’s current meta. Move decks have fallen out of relevance of late, and while she can be slotted into almost any deck (similar to Jeff), thanks to her move ability, but she isn’t an essential card at the moment. It would be better for players to wait to obtain Nocturne until she is featured in a Series Drop later down the line, especially if players are low on Tokens or Spotlight Keys.
