Shortly into the story, Ichiban will meet Eri, who needs assistance running her family business. Despite having no experience, Ichiban offers his help, and with the assistance of his new rich friend Nick Ogata, he puts in the work to turn around Ichiban Confections. By the end of the sidequest, Ichiban Confections can go from a small senbei shop to the biggest business in all of Yokohama. It’s a long sidequest, but with a very worthy reward.
Business management offers a lot of businesses and employees for the player to work with, whichLike a Dragon 8could make even bigger. In addition to the large selection on hand, players can recruit more potential employees through either meeting them on the street or completing certain substories. This gives players even more incentive than normal to complete every substory they can find. Players can even unlock some particularly amusing or unusual employees through this method. It’s entirely possible for one of the player’s businesses to be run by a child, a chicken, and a giant Roomba thanks to unlockable employees.
One big reason to bring business management back inLike a Dragon 8is, strangely enough, the game’s name. With the revelation ofLike a Dragon 8’s subtitle,Infinite Wealth, the return of business management would make a lot of sense. Besides the obvious connotation, business management was the best way for players to make a lot of money quickly inYakuza: Like a Dragon. By the time they were in the later stages of the questline, players will be able to easily pull in millions of yen. ForLike a Dragon 8to live up to theInfinite Wealthsubtitle, it may need the business management minigame.
