Call of Duty: Warzoneis one of the world’s most popular video games, and Infinity Ward has continued to support the game quite frequently with new modes,brand new contracts, and content galore. And if a recent leak is true, Infinity Ward is going all out with support for the title as a brand new map may be coming to the game very soon.
Reddit user r/DougDagnabbit has noticed a fascinating video within the files ofCall of Duty: Warzone. The clip shows an overhead map looking at Verdansk, which is the current playable map inWarzone. Suddenly, dozens of red dots appear on top of the Verdansk area (perhaps indicating that it was attacked by missiles or even nukes), and the video pans over to a different area of the massive territory and shows Urzikstan, a land of desert, mountainous regions, and urban settings.

Urzikstan is a fictional country within theModern Warfareuniverse, and it’s entirely possible thatWarzone’s new playing grounds are in this country. Fans have recently wondered if anewWarzonemap could take place in a Chernobyl type-setting, which would certainly be intriguing, as the series has been dabbled in single-player missions and multiplayer maps with that in mind in the past. Urzikstan would also seem to be a natural fit, as the assets are already created, the area was heavily used in the campaign inModern Warfare, and it would create a lot of fun battle experiences for players.
The file that was uncovered is labeled “Season 4,” which would indicate that this new map could come as soon as the beginning of Season 4 ofModern WarfareandWarzone.Season 3 ofMWandWarzonebegan on April 8 and is currently planned to run through June 1. This would mean that Season 4 would begin on June 2, so fans can start the hype train now that a new map could be on the way.
A fresh new map forWarzone, only two to three months into the release of the game, would be extremely exciting. Fans are still just getting started with the tinkering ofstrategies for how to win inWarzone, and a new battle royale map will change things up drastically and keep players on their toes.
Games likeApex LegendsandFortnitehave had only two maps into their second and third years, respectively, and it’s a bold approach to add a new map already into the mix forWarzone. The fact that the video also shows Verdansk being blown up might mean that the map will be sunsetted for a time. Alternatively, a game likePUBG, which recently has worked on remastering its maps, has many playable levels of various sizes and biomes.Warzonecould go thePUBGroute and have multiple maps playable eventually.
For now, this “leak” should be taken with a grain of salt. r/DougDagnabbit has leaked information in the past, but that doesn’t mean that the assumption that a new map is on the way is true. It could even be that theVerdansk map itself will be changed. SinceWarzonelaunched, some players noticed that the game specifically indicates that they are playing battle royale on Verdansk. This would make it seem like other options will be on the way at some point.
