Gunn’s most recentGuardians of the Galaxyupdate came after one fan casually asked him if he wasworking on John Cena’sPeacemaker, the upcoming HBO series created and written by Gunn, who, after confirming his involvement, proceeded to tell another fan thatGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3is definitely beginning its filming process in 2021. Though no specific dates were mentioned, it’s likely that this will be towards the end of the year, as Gunn is tied toPeacemakerat least until this summer.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3has many setupsthat fans may be looking forward to, most notably the potential introduction of Adam Warlock as the Guardians’ newest and most powerful foe so far before Gunn finally waves goodbye to the franchise. With filming bound to start in 2021, it won’t take long until more casting news and possible cameos start to surface, with maybe even Chris Hemsworth paying Chris Pratt a visit to return the favor.

For now, Gunn is booked to direct at least a few episodes ofPeacemaker, which, alongside the more promisingThe Suicide Squad, could end up boosting his status in the DC Extended Universe and thus his working relationship with the WarnerMedia Group.
