It’s no secret that fans of Telltale Games’The Walking Deadseries have a strong fondness for Clementine, the main protagonist of the critically acclaimed series. But even the main series creator Robert Kirkman himself has come out to state his strong love for the character. With both the comic book andThe Telltale Game series coming to a close last year, it would appear that the character’s story is finished.

But in the recently releasedNegan Lives, the series creator made a small hint that the character may indeed make some sort of return. At the end of the the letters page, Kirkman simply says “P.S. Clementine Lives,” which is a direct reference to a similar statement found at the end ofThe Walking Dead: The Final Season. But how could we see Clementine return toThe Walking Deadseries? It’s unclear, but there are a few possibilities.

The Comics

First and foremost, Clementine could return in a one-off comic book issue similar toNegan’s return inNegan Lives. This would make the most sense, asThe Walking Deadfranchise started as comics after all, and the series creator has stated time and time again his love for the video game character. Clementine has never officially appeared in any medium other than the games, so her appearance in the comic books would further legitimize her character.

The AMC Television Series

Another possibility could be an appearance throughThe Walking Deadtelevision series. This feels far less likely, however. For one, the AMC series is separate from the games and comics in many ways, with the overall story having several major changes, such as the removal of main series protagonists Rick and Carl Grimes. The Telltale series established itself as being closely tied to the comic book universe early on, with many characters like Glen, Hershel, and Jesus visually appearing like their comic book counterparts, so it would feel odd to mix the Telltale and AMC versions of the franchise.

The Telltale Games Series

The third possibility would be a new game entirely. This option seems the most likely, however, asSkybound Entertainment recently dismissed the idea of a new seasonvia Twitter back in March, stating that “they currently have no plans for Season 5.” With that said, Skybound could have easily changed its minds since the release ofNegan Lives. Additionally, just because there might not be a Season 5 in the works, there could still be some sort of spin-off separate from the mainTWDTelltale franchise.

Regardless of the means, it seems very possible that fans haven’t seen the end of Clementine. But how would she come back, and would she even have a fighting chance with the loss of her leg? It seems like any iteration that would come afterThe Final Seasonwouldn’t focus on her as a main character, but anything sooner seems unlikely as well. Only time will tell.
