With the death of the last Targaryen dragon in 153 AC, the realm bids adieu to Targaryen dragons, and the associated deterrence. After this, the subsequent Targaryen monarchs,more notably Aegon the Fifth, retain little control over the nobility in the realm. He finds it difficult to impose decisions and introduce reforms that benefit the Smallfolk because of opposition from all sides.

The Last Dragon was born during Aegon III’s time and died at a young age. Did Aegon III Poison The Last Dragon?
Aegon the Younger (later known as Aegon III) helplessly watched as his mother was devoured by her half-brother Aegon II’s mount, Sunfyre. Due to this incident, he developed a fear and harbored hatred against dragons. He was installed on the throne after the dragon catastrophe nearly wiped out most of his family and lords in the realm.While Aegon III hated the very sight of Lady Rhaena’s hatchling Morning at the Dance’s end, the claim that he poisoned the last dragon remains doubtful.
Since the Last Dragon barely lived through a king’s reign, not much is known about her. Her skull is purportedly among the nineteen dragon skulls adorned on the walls of the throne roomin the Red Keep.

Shehatched three petrified dragon eggsand named the hatchlings after her late husband and two older brothers.Per HBO’sGame of Thronescanon, Drogon outlives his brothers while Viserion and Rhaegal die in Westeros. Drogon is currently the last living dragon in the Known World.
