Hogwarts Legacyfollows a young fifth-year student on their journey to stop a power-hungry goblin from waging war on wizardkind. Shortly after they arrive at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the protagonist will be given the chance to explore the castle and the vast lands awaiting them outside the castle’s wall, where they can find all manners ofsecrets and Easter eggs.

One such Easter egg, Hagrid’s Memorial, can be found by exploring the grounds just outside the castle, but finding its exact location can be quite challenging due to how well-hidden it is. Even thoughHogwarts Legacytakes place during the 1890s, long before Hagrid’s time, the existence of this Easter egg is extremely thoughtful because of what it means.
What Is Hagrid’s Memorial In Hogwarts Legacy?
Most of the Easter eggs inHogwarts Legacytend to allude to the lore of the wizarding world, but Hagrid’s Memorial is actually a reference to Robbie Coltrane, the Scottish actor who portrayed Rubeus Hagrid duringHarry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, all the way untilHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Hagrid was arguably one of the most iconic characters in theHarry Pottermovies, largely because of how suited Robbie Coltrane was as his actor; his performance allowed Hagrid to not only shine as a character but also as an embodiment of what makes Hogwarts feel so magical. The presence of Hagrid’s Memorial inHogwarts Legacyconflicts with the time in which the game is set, but fans of the series are sure to appreciate how respectful it is, especially due to where it is situated.
Hagrid’s Memorial Location In Hogwarts Legacy
While exploring the world ofHogwarts Legacy, players will uncover a variety of unique Easter eggs, collectibles, and locations. Most of these can be found quite easily by castingthe Revelio spell, but finding Hagrid’s Memorial can be a little challenging seeing as Revelio won’t highlight where it is.
To find the exact location of Hagrid’s Memorial, the player will first need to have arrived at Hogwarts and chosen their house. When the next day dawns, they can find the memorial without having to venture too far from the castle.
The fastest way to find Hagrid’s Memorial isto fast-travelto theHogwarts South Exit in The South Wingand proceed southeast along the Black Lake. Upon arriving at Hagrid’s Hut, the player need only travel behind it to where it overlooks the lake.
There, they will find a small gravestone with a Hippogriff statue standing in front. Sadly, casting Revelio won’t reveal anything about what this gravestone is referring to, but fans of theHarry Pottermovies will know that its presence alludes to Rebeus Hagrid, played by Robbie Coltrane, and Buckbeak, the iconic Hippogriff that appeared inHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One versions will release on April 4, and a Switch version will release on July 25.
