Back in 2018,Red Dead Redemption 2hit shelves and digital storefronts worldwide. At the time of its release, the game had the second-biggest launch in the history of the medium and remains one of the best-selling video games of all time. Despite being a prequel with its main focus on a new character, a good chunk ofRed Dead Redemption 2focused on John Marston.

The primary plot ofRed Dead Redemption 2focused on a new character named Arthur Morgan and his activities with the Van der Linde Gang. It was eventually revealed thatRed Dead Redemption 2would feature John Marstonand, as the game went on, the character became more involved in the story’s central plot. The epilogue section of the game allowed the player to control John Marston and reveals how he got his farm inRed Dead Redemptionin excruciating detail.

In the epilogue section, the player discoverswhat became ofRed Dead Redemption 2’s surviving companionswho were not featured in the first game. One of the most famous parts of the epilogue section ofRed Dead Redemption 2is when John builds his house with the aid of Charles Smith and Uncle. A new clip from the scene, however, completely ruins it as a cougar constantly attacks John as he tries to build the house. The video comes from the YouTube channel Brother Foller, and it’s not entirely clear if the attack was caused by a glitch or a mod.

Bizarre animal encounters in the game are not at all uncommon. In one instance, a player had a creepyencounter with a bear inRed Dead Redemption 2, and animals are a constant hazard that players must contend with throughout the game. In this particular instance, the cougar opted to attack John in the middle of the cutscene and nearly kills him several times. As the clip goes on, the cougar will not stop going after him as Charles and Uncle watch on as the game’s music continues to play.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s epiloguehas been listed as one of the best epilogue sections of any video game. It perfectly bridges the game between the events of the prequel and the first game and appears to give John and company a happy ending. This ultimately makes the events ofRed Dead Redemptionall the more tragic as players know what’s coming. Perhaps it may have been better for the character if he was just mauled to death by a cougar while building his house instead of getting the fate that eventually came to him.

Red Dead Redemption 2is available to play on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
