Grand Theft Auto 5has made itself home on Xbox Game Pass over the past few months, but according to a new update, it looks like its days are numbered.
The open-world behemoth that isGrand Theft Auto 5came out in 2013 and continues to be one of the most successful and played games ever since, thanks in large part to its expansion,GTA Online. It was rereleased on the PS4 and Xbox One, and has PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions slated for this year, but the game has been available for console players of Xbox Game Pass since this past April. There is never any certainty with title availability or longevity on Game Pass, and it seems thatGTA 5may bejoining the titles leaving at the end of July.

Without any formal announcement by Xbox or Rockstar,GTA 5recently appeared on the “Leaving Soon” tab of the Xbox Game Pass website. Unfortunately, no specific date of departure is given on this page nor when clicking onGTA 5’s listing, as with the other games listed here. The only indicator of a time frame given by this page is the notice above the games that states, “These games exit the Xbox Game Pass library in the next two weeks.” There are stillplenty of excellent games on Game Pass, but the loss ofGTA 5will definitely be a heavy one when it eventually goes.
As mentioned, this is not the first time thatGTA 5will be leaving Xbox Game Pass. The game first debuted on the service early in January 2020, which gave users access to the then recently releasedDiamond Resort and CasinoDLC, and remained available until the following May.GTA 5did not become available on Game Pass again until this past April, and the way that things are headed, this stint will be one month shorter than its first go-around in 2020. One of theperks of Game Pass is a discounted rateon leaving games, though, so for those who have been playingGTA 5through Game Pass, now is the perfect time to buy the game.
GTA 5recently dropped itsLos Santos TunersDLC, which has seen a tremendous outpouring of support from players. Adding new cars, customization options, and tons of new missions, the list of things to do inGTA Onlinenever seems to decrease. As a sign of thanks from the developers,Rockstar is giving players free moneyfor theOnlinemode who log in this week. While it’s a shame the money cannot be used in real life, Game Pass players will definitely need it if they wish to continue building theirOnlinereputation.
Grand Theft Auto 5is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions release on November 11.
