Kaeya is a free 4-star character that players get at the start of their journey inGenshin Impact. Now there are some bad and good news for Kaeya users. The bad news is that Kaeya isone of the three starters inGenshin Impact, which makes his abilities rusty and outdated.
However, the good news is that he still can be helpful and useful if players include him in the right teams with the correct builds. To do so, players must avoid making these mistakes when using Kaeya inGenshin Impact.
6Wielding The Wrong Weapons
Since Kaeya can take multiple roles inGenshin Impact, knowingthe best weapons he wields during each roleis important. Players can’t build Kaeya with one weapon and expect him to perform the same in every team.
When Kaeya operates as a Sub-DPS, he will perform better wielding Swords likeMistsplitter ReforgedandPrimordial Jade Cutteras 5-star options. As for 4-star options,The Black SwordandBlackcliff Longswordare decent choices to improve his damage.
As a Support, Kaeya’s Elemental Burst is essential, so finding him an Energy Recharge Sword becomes a priority. Weapons likeSacrificial Sword,Favonius Sword, andSkyward Bladeare great for maximizing Kaeya’s abilities as a Support.
5Pairing Him With Ranged Units
Kaeya can be adecent Support by helping other characterswith his strong off-field Cryo application. This ability mostly comes from his Elemental Burst which summons three icicles that spin around his body. However, there’s a limited reach to his Elemental Burst since it doesn’t make contact unless the active character is stuck to the enemy. So, when adding Kaeya to any team comp, players must be sure the main DPS is a melee unit that will stay close to enemies in all situations.
4Depending On His Elemental Skill To Heal
While Kaeya has some kind of healing on his Elemental Skill, it was never that serious or effective. Hegains that ability from his first Ascension passivewhich states that Kaeya heals 15% of his total ATK when hitting an enemy with his Elemental Skill.
Even if players managed to give Kaeya more than 2000 ATK, the healing will remain underwhelming and won’t add any notable changes. In difficult situations where it’s important to heal the squad, it’s better to include a healer in the team since it’s their job to keep everyone alive.
3Underestimating His Role As A Battery
Somecharacters inGenshin Impactheavily rely on their Elemental Burststo operate effectively during combat. Some depend on their Burst to deal damage while others need it to give their teams some precious buffs. In all cases, it’s important for these units to get their Elemental Bursts back in every rotation. To ensure that can happen, players must include a battery in their team comps to generate more particles and improve rotations.
Kaeya is one of these reliant batteries inGenshin Impactthat can ensure a Cryo unit is always ready to unleash their Burst. Not only his Elemental Skill can produce a decent amount of Energy, but it also has a very low cooldown of six seconds. Now add Favonius or Sacrificial weapon and Kaeya becomes one of thebest batteries inGenshin Impact.
2Playing Him As A Main DPS
Like any other 4-star, Kaeya’s capabilities are hidden in his Constellations which are extremely hard to get since starter characters are only available in the Standard Banner. Kaeya also can have up to 75% Crit Rate, which allows players to focus the entire build on Crit DMG. Additionally, Kaeya enjoys the highest ATK scaling on his Normal attacks which attracts players to main DPS him. While it’s appealing to play Kaeya as Main DPS, he’s definitely underwhelming compared to all the new characters that came after him.
1Not Finding His Best Pairs
Although he’s outdated, Kaeya can still be aneffective pair with some units inGenshin Impact. Even if Kaeya wasn’t these units’ best match, they still can generate a good amount of damage. For example, matching Kaeya with Pyro units like Diluc or Hu Tao creates a nice synergy of Melt and Reverse-Melt damage that can go on for a while. Players can also create some fruitful Permafreeze teams that include Kaeya like matching him with Hydro units like Xingqiu and Yelan, or other Cryo units like Ayaka or Chongyun.
When it comes to Superconduct, Kaeya forms one of the best pairs with Razor and Keqing. Players can also include Raiden with Kaeya to effortlessly spam the Superconduct reaction without having both of them on the field.
