Player Mistakes

Back to All Characters

InGenshin Impact, a wide variety offour-star charactersmake up the bulk of overall gameplay. While many players flock to whatever five-star character they pull first, it’s also common to utilize a powerful four-star due to their more common constellations and efficiencies. Razor is one such character, with potential as both a DPS and a support.

That said, it is all too common that players in the community fail to adequately use Razor. Whether it be failing to use his skill set correctly or something a little more tactical, here’s what to avoid doing when using Razor for the first time.

10Not Using His Skill Correctly

A character’s skill is often the most common area where players mistakes in combat. Those playing as Razor will find themselves using his skill, Claw and Thunder, fairly often. Yet, more often than not, people tend to overlook one crucial part about Razor’s elemental skill.

Razor’s skill generates energy. People playing as Razor will find combat a lot easier if theyavoidusing his charged skill, because it resets his energy recharge bonus. With three orbs of electro energy, Razor will collect the energy needed for his more powerful burst ability at an immense speed. Even if players find themselves wanting to use his charged attack, then damage will increase with each orb they have.

9Not Watching His HP

Generally, most characters don’t have to worry about HP management. Even without a healer, most characters have decent enough defense and resistance to take a hit. However, Razor is a different story.

With more dynamic gameplay between his skill and burst, as well as subpar defensive status, it’s easy for hits against Razor to accumulate over time. This can easily spell trouble for players that don’t pay attention to his health bar.

8Not Using His Electro Reactions

Razor is anamazing DPS character, with some fans even calling him a secret five-star. Yet, Razor has more potential than just a DPS character. He also makes for a very efficient enabler amongElectro characters in the game.

A lot of this comes from quick succession of his elemental skill, and the duration of his burst. This makes for a lot of situations where large swathes of enemies become afflicted by electro status. Utilizing agood Pyro characteror Hydro character makes for easy elemental reactions, which heavily increase damage output.

7Not Upgrading His Talents

It is common knowledge in theGenshin Impactcommunity that upgrading a character’s talents is important. But prioritizing specific talents makes a world of difference, especially if the player is looking to use Razor as their main character.

Generally, a player’s priorities depend on how they want to use their character. When using Razor as a DPS, upgrading all of his stats equally (with minor priority for his burst) will do fine. However, when using Razor as a support, the player should focus more on his skill and burst.

6Not Using His Skill During His Burst

Razor is a unique character inGenshin Impact’sroster, given that he can use his skill while in his burst state. Yet, it can be easy to forget this in the moment. Players will find that this is a crucial mistake.

Since a large portion of damage potential comes from constantly using Razor’s elemental burst, it’s crucial to constantly bring in energy anytime the energy counter resets. Not only do the effects of Razor’s claw attack retain their energy charging abilities during his burst, but the burst also increases the damage of his electro attacks.

5Not Thinking About His Team

Team management is a crucial partofGenshin Impactgameplay in general. Granted, players will find the game enjoyable if they only play with their favorite characters, but it should be noted that certain characters work better together.

For example, players may find pairing Razor with another electro character to be a little limiting. Additionally, a character who relies on immobile Geo-structures may not be ideal for a face-paced, mobile character like Razor. Players should use whatever team setup suits their playstyle best; however, it’s always helpful to take a moment to think tactically.

4Choosing Underwhelming Artifact Stats

Artifacts are among the big three components that make for a well-builtGenshin Impactcharacter. In addition to upgrading talents and equipping adequate weapons, Razor mains should pay close attention to theartifact choices available in-game. There are plenty of artifacts in the game, and choosing an underwhelming set will make gameplay less enjoyable.

Players may want to avoid artifacts with high energy recharge, as Razor’s skill easily makes up for it. On the other hand, attack and defense % are always good choices. These will boost his high offense and make up for lacking defense respectively. Elemental Mastery and crit rate/damage are also good priority stats.

3Choosing Lackluster Artifact Sets

Choosing an individual artifact set is also important, as the sub-abilities will help define gameplay. For example, a Maiden’s Beloved set won’t be much help to Razor, given his lack of healing.

For best results, there are a few paths that players can take when choosing artifacts for Razor. For damage output, choosing the Gladiator’s Finale or Thundering Fury set are both splendid choices. Noblesse Oblige is also a set with great potential, given that Razor uses his elemental burst fairly often.

2Not Ascending Him Enough

Ascension is a givenfor most characters inGenshin Impact. Outside of the material cost, there are no real repercussions for ascending a character. However, many fail to realize how pertinent ascension is for characters like Razor.

Razor features two passive talents that unlock at the 1st and 4th ascension. The first, Awakening, greatly decreases the cooldown time of his skill, making energy recharge faster. The 4th ascension passive, Hunger, adds to this by increasing recharge by 30% when energy is below 50%. These two minimize Razor’s need to build energy even more, allowing the player to focus solely on building his other stats.

1Not Pairing Him With Passive Bonuses

While elemental pair is important, a good tip for Razor-users is to pair him with other characters with passive skills. Razor likes to be front and center, constantly fighting on the field. Granted, Razor is still useable without passive bonuses, but he will deal damage far more efficiently with passive talents present.

Xingqiu is perhaps one of the bestpartners to have in-party for players using Razor. Given that his rain blades transfer to whoever is on the field, this can make Razor deal Hydro and Electro damage at the same time.
