It seems there was truth to earlier reports regarding the disagreements betweenWonder Womanstar Gal Gadot andAvengersdirector Joss Whedon.Recently,Gadot confirmed that Whedon threatened her career while working on the theatrical cut ofJustice League.
Last month,The Hollywood Reportersat down withCyborg actor Ray Fisher for an in-depth interviewabout his experiences with Whedon and Warner Bros. onJustice League.Fisher has previously called out Whedon for his unprofessional and abusive behavior on the set, which resulted in an internal investigation from WarnerMedia. It was also reported that Fisher was not the onlyJustice Leagueactor to have issues with Whedon.

During an interview with Isreal’s N12 News, Gadot addressed the previous reporting that Whedon didn’t approve of her meddling with her character, saying, “What I had with Joss basically is that he kind of threatened my career and said if I did something he would make my career miserable. I handled it on the spot.” According to an earlier report fromThe Hollywood Reporter,a reliable source said that Gadot had issues with Whedon’s handling of her character, believing her to be too aggressive when compared to her portrayal inWonder Woman.According to the same source, the biggest clash came when Whedon pushed Gadot to record lines she didn’t approve of, resulting in theBuffy The Vampire Slayercreator disparagingWonder Womandirector Patty Jenkinsand threatening Gadot’s career. According to a witness on the production who spoke to investigators, Whedon was boasting about his confrontation with Gadot and insisted that as the writer, she was “going to shut up” and say his lines or risk him making her look “incredibly stupid” inJustice League.
Gadot first portrayed Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the director’s second film in the DCEU. From there, Gadot reprised her role in the highly acclaimed standaloneWonder Womanfilm, which explored the character’s origins during WWI. She appeared again in the theatrical release ofJustice Leagueand in the recently released Snyder Cut, where she has a much greater and more consistent role. She also portrayed the Amazonian warrior in the recent sequelWonder Woman 1984.Despite the mixed reaction towardsWonder Woman 1984, Gadot is confirmed to be reprising the role for a third film.
While Fisher seems to be out of the DCEU, no longer being includedin the upcomingFlashmovie, Gadot will be reteaming with Jenkins for the thirdWonder Womanmovie and remains one of only a fewJustice Leagueactors to be reprising her role. Aquaman actor Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller, who portrays Barry Allen/The Flash, will also reprise their roles in future projects.
With an upcoming reboot for both Batman and Superman, it seems unlikely that Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck will be portraying these characters again. Although,Affleck is said to be portraying Batmanone more time inThe Flashfilm.
