Xbox Game Studio Playground Games debuted its final 2020 Forza Monthly show forForza Horizon 4today, and the biggest new announcement for the popular racing title is its upcoming Super7 mode. The game has been continually supported since it launched in 2018, includingForza Horizon 4receiving a free upgrade to Xbox Series X, but Super7 will add something unique: Customizable tracks and challenges.
The mode is meant to celebrate community-created challenges, according to the official description of the minute-long Super7 trailer uploaded to YouTube. Players can design challenges based around elements like speed or drifting, and create stunt tracks to facilitate them using objects like ramps and concrete tubes that can be placed on the ground or in mid-air. This can be done in a variety ofForza Horizon 4’s environments, and players can also include unique decor like dinosaur statues and neon gates.

The system is reminiscent ofForza Horizon 3’s Bucket List challenges, according to a hands-on report by IGN, though apparently there is a slim amount of props at launch compared toDirt 5’s Playgrounds arena creation feature. However, players can also take on gauntlets of seven random player challenges to receive an “exclusive reward,” according to the trailer. Super7 will be available for free to all players starting tomorrow, December 8.
ThatForza Horizon 4is still receiving content updates, including major new features like the stunt track editor which defines the Super7 mode, is no doubt a boon for players waiting on the next entry in the expansiveForzafranchise. Much like Activision’sCall of Duty, releases shift between theHorizonandMotorsportseries, and a newForza Motorsportwas announced for Xbox Series X and PCthis July during an Xbox Games Showcase.
However, not many details about the nextForza Motorsporthave been discussed since its announcement, and it still has an unclear release date. A rumor from industry insider Jeff Grubb instead suggestsForza Horizon 5may launch beforeForza Motorsport, as early as next year. With new content still releasing forHorizon 4it isn’t clear how reliable this rumor may be, but at this point only time will tell.
No matter how the future release schedule for theForzaseries looks, racing fans have a lot to keep themselves occupied thanks to the new Super7 mode and similar releases such asDirt 5’s Playgrounds. Though it had some initial problems, 2017’sForza Motorsport 7debuted on Xbox Game Passearlier this year, so the franchise continues to go as strong as ever on all fronts.
Forza Horizon 4is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
