Fortniteplayers can once again enjoy the Grappler, as it has been put back in the game in order to replace its icy counterpart. Winterfest is one of thebiggestFortniteeventsof the year, and many gamers have been eagerly waiting for its release. After weeks of anticipation, the Winterfest event finally went live on Thursday, December 14. Its launch brought plenty of new activities and themed cosmetics that will certainly fill some players with holiday cheer.
On December 19, Epic Games released a hotfix to improve players' movement inFortnite, but these weren’t the onlychanges that update 28.01.01 brought toFortnite. On top of the general bug fixes and movement tweaks, it also brought an additional Winterfest item toFortnite, the Icy Grappler. Since mobility is quite lacking this season, players were happy to find out that this holiday item would be making a comeback. However, it was only available for a brief amount of time.
Only a day following its release, the Icy Grapple was removed due to an unexpected error. According to the officialFortniteStatus Twitter account, the Icy Grappler had to be vaulted from the Battle Royale game mode because players were sliding much faster than intended, which led matches to crash entirely. To make up for this issue, Epic Games decided to unvault the normal Grappler item so that fans can continue to enjoy the convenience of having amobility item inFortnite.

Furthermore, theFortniteStatus account also mentioned that the Grappler would remain available until the end of the Winterfest event, which means players have at least until June 09, 2025, to use it in-game. It is unknown if it will continue to be part of the battle royale’s loot pool or if it will be removed once again. Besides the cars and bikes scattered around the island, players don’t have that many mobility items this season. While some gamers prefer to play without these items, most of the community would rather have no issues moving from place to place inFortnite.
Even though theexotic Icy Grapplerwas a slippery version of the Grappler, it could be used an unlimited number of times, so players never had to worry about it running out. Unfortunately, the Grappler can only be used a total of ten times before it disappears from players' inventories. Once this happens, they must find another one if they want to continue using it.
