Summary
Fortniteexperienced a massive explosion of players a day after the launch of its OG specific content, smashing previous player count and hours played records in the process. After plenty of rumors and leaks,Epic launched Fortnite OGwhich brings players back to 2018 to experience what the game was like before all of the changes that have happened in recent years.
Not only doesFortnite OG bring back popular POIs like Tilted Towers, but classic items, vehicles, and weapons are also making their way back out of the vault. Some gameplay features, like swimming, have also been removed temporarily to reinforce the idea that this is a return to simpler times in the game’s history. The return to Fortnite’s past was clearly a wise decision as players seemingly flocked to the battle royale to check out all the returning features and changes.

After the launch ofFortniteOG on November 3, the game smashed a couple of major milestones over the weekend. Taking to social media, the officialFortniteaccount revealed that on Saturday November 4, the game saw its biggest day in its history with over 44.7 million players logging in and racking up a combined 102 million hours of play during that time.
The news shouldn’t be too surprising for players asFortnitebegan seeing a spike of players following the Season OG reveal trailerbased on data accumulated via Fortnite.GG. The player count continued to climbing to an all-time high of over 5 million players, though following the content release as well as positive word of mouth, it’s clear that there has been significant interest in seeing what elseFortnitehas managed to bring to the table with this update.
While the explosion in players is no doubt good for the game, which has continued to be immensely popular, the trick will be sustaining that momentum. It seems as though Epic has attempted to plan ahead as theFortniteexperience will continue to evolve and change on a weekly basis. While the first week takes players back to Chapter 1, Season 5, Epic will be moving the game forward in time every week starting on Nov 9 with Chapter 1 Season 6, then Seasons 7 and 8, and finally Season 9 and X. With each update, iconic weapons, gear, and vehicles will also be making a comeback including The Baller, Junk Rift, X-4 Stormwing, and much more.
