While Epic Games managed to craft a major Marvel crossover event that also spanned comic books last season, the company has really upped the ante for Chapter 2 Season 5. The season began withthe arrival of The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda, though things have expanded quickly to include surprising additions like The Terminator, Predator, Kratos from Sony’sGod of Warfranchise, as well as Master Chief fromHalo. The latest datamined information comes from prominentFortniteleaker ShiinaBR. The user discovered new audio that is apparently planned for use in a new Skirmish Portal acting as a teaser for the new content. Based on the image associated with the portal, Capcom fans will likely recognize the iconic castle from Ryu’s Street Fighter 2 stage. In addition, the music is very clearly playing a distorted version of Ryu’s Theme.
With these details, the latest hunter to join Season 5 appears to be from theStreet Fighterseries. However, Shiina also discovered evidence that the upcoming crossover is getting both a male and female character, heavily implying Ryu and Chun-Li considering they’re arguably the most well known and recognizable characters from the series. If this ultimately turns out to be true,Ryu and Chun-Li will be joining the likes of Master Chief and Kratosinside ofFortnite’s Gaming Legends series.
So far, Sony, Microsoft, and now Capcom appear to be represented inside of the popular third person shooter. To this point, Nintendo remains curiously absent from any leaks, traditionally seen as the final member of the big three gaming hardware giants. Theories and speculation have been running wild online as to who could potentially represent Nintendo, a company with a sizable stable of iconic IPs it could pull from.
