Summary

AFortnitefan has discovered a glaring issue with the Mecha Team Leader skin. There are countlessFortniteskins now that Chapter 5 has begun, but this one may have an automatic disadvantage.

With theFortniteOG event ushering in Chapter 5, updates continue to be released for the battle royale. With each season, new skins are added to the game. Among the fresh additions in Chapter 5 are a ripped tiger named Oscar,Family Guy’s Peter Griffin, andMetal Gear Solidprotagonist Solid Snake. As skins come in many shapes and sizes, the battle royale has to give each of them sensible hitboxes. These hitboxes allow other players to identify different parts of the body to secure critical headshots. One gamer found that the Mecha Team Leader skin isn’t working as it used to, leading to problematic gameplay.

Reddit user Anthony29472 recently shared a clip highlighting the issue withFortnite’s Mecha Team Leader. The clip begins with the player in a looted vault with some Epic items. As the Mecha Team Leader goes to aim a pump shotgun, their arm blocks most of the screen. The dinosaur arm holding the trigger of the pump shotgun is one of the few things visible when aiming. The gamer illustrates this multiple times, and moving the character around theFortniteChapter 5room doesn’t normalize the aim mechanic. The video concludes with the camera clipping through the Mecha Team Leader’s arm, which further shows that it’s likely an unintentional glitch.

The Mecha Team Leader was introduced in Season 9, and it has appeared intheFortniteItem Shopnumerous times. Like other skins, Mecha Team Leader eventually got a new style, weapon wrap, and Pickaxe. Alternative skins that share the same build include Mecha Team Shadow and Mecha Strike Commander. While it’s currently unclear if these skins are impacted by the same issue, fans may find themselves unable to aim using either mech. Given that hip firing is less accurate than aiming down the sights for each shot, players using this skin may be at a natural disadvantage. As most players have multiple skins, they may be able to switch to one that isn’t impacted by the same issue.

Because the Mecha Team Leader skin costs 1,600FortniteV-bucks, players who purchased the skin before Chapter 5 may feel that it’s pay-to-lose now. Epic Games continues to update the game, which may bode well for the future of the skin. Fans have pointed out other skins like Bender and Kenji suffer from the same problem, suggesting that multiple characters need a fix.
