It’s fair to say that players looking forward to Luminous Productions’Forspokenhave had an interesting couple of weeks. Thanks to some insider rumors, it looked at one point like the Square Enix published PS5 and PC game was going to be delayed once again, this time out of 2022. Assertions thatFinal Fantasy 16might be poisedto take the new IPs release window have since died down though.
Unless there’s official confirmation otherwisefrom Luminous or Square,Forspokenis still penciled in to launch on October 11 this year. Despite the delays and setbacks that the game has experienced so far, it’s clear that every party involved with its release is bullish aboutForspoken. A fair amount of attention has been given to what happens to the franchise after its debut. Players know already, for example, that theIn Tanta We TrustDLC expansion will be coming their way at a later date.

Forspoken’s DLC Details
Despite being post launch support for a game that’s still months away, there’s already a decent amount of information swirling on the internet in relation to theIn Tanta We Trustexpansion. In an effort to expand its newly formed universe, Luminous Productions will add a story-based DLC to theForspokenexperience. So far though, there’s been no concrete confirmation as to when exactly that will occur. While the expansion was oncepenciled in for a Winter 2022 release, the game’s latest delay has already pushed it back into 2023.
Even though there’s a chance that players could be waiting the better part of a year for the expansion, Square Enix has ensured there’s already a way for them to get in on the action early. Anyone who pre-orders or buys theForspoken’s Digital Deluxe Editionfrom one of the online storefronts it’s available on will be able to download theIn Tanta We Trustexpansion for free when it launches. Considering how the edition costs a steep $94.99, there are a few other incentives included such as in-game items and a mini-soundtrack.

As it stands right now, there’s been no confirmation as to how much theIn Tanta We Trustexpansion will cost separately. It’s therefore hard to judge how valuableForspoken’sDigital Deluxe Edition truly is as a result. What’s clear however, is the fact that Luminous Productions isn’t cutting content from the main experience before charging a premium for it. Based on the story details that have been released, it sounds as though developers have been rolled over on to the project after they’ve wrapped up their work on the base game.
Tanta’s Story Details
In Tanta We Trust’s likely quality and value is hinted at even more in the agonizingly brief story details that Luminous Productions has been comfortable speaking about. Aside from its official title, the only information that’s really been provided is the fact that the expansion will be a story-based prequel. Instead of focusing onForspoken’smain magic-wielding protagonist Frey, players will seemingly get a deeper look at the backstory behind the universe’s mysterious Tantas.
While the context of the DLC’s story is still shrouded in mystery, it’s possible to speculate on the narrative threads that theIn Tanta We Trustexpansion might pull. In therun-up toForspoken’s release, Luminous Productions has already spoken at great-length about the Tantas who rule the universe. Part of the game will see Frey face-off against these matriarchal sorceresses in promising looking boss battles. Even though the group has been advertised asForspoken’s primary villains, there are some signs which suggest this might not be strictly true.
FromForspoken’s pre-release marketing, it’s clear that a magical corruption has been spreading across the game’s once vibrant lands. Seemingly this corruption, referred to in passing as the Break, has even affected the Tantas. While they were once fair and just rulers,by the time that Frey arrives, on the scene dark magic has turned them into dictators. With that context in mind, it seems highly likely that theIn Tanta We TrustDLC expansion will explore the events that led to that corruption first-hand. Unless some time-travel is employed, there’s a chance that players will get to control one of the Tantas.
Forspokenis scheduled to release on June 10, 2025 for PC and PS5.
