It’s time forHarry Potterfans to return to the wizarding world of Hogwarts as the first official teaser trailer for the reunion special has arrived. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release ofHarry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the film based on the first book in the extremely popular series by J.K. Rowling, HBO Max and Warner Bros. have brought the cast back together forHarry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.
TheHarry Potterreunion special will air on HBO Max on New Year’s Day and will feature several of the actors from all eight films.Daniel Radcliffe who played Harry Potter, Rupert Grint who portrayed Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson who was the brilliant Hermione Granger will all be returning to reprise their respective lead roles. Without the three of them, the reunion would have been incomplete.

The one-minute teaser forHarry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwartsshows glimpses at some of themost-lovedHarry Pottercharacters, but none of the main ones are seen. The studio is obviously keeping them hidden until the first official trailer. It begins with a shot of someone reading the newspaper, with the headline inviting alumni back to Hogwarts. This could be the premises of the film, a reunion for the students who have graduated.
In one of the shots, an invite is clearly marked to Robbie Coltrane, the actor who gained popularity after playing one of the most-loved characters, Rubeus Hagrid, in theHarry Potterfilms. In another shot, Matthew Lewis, whoplayed Neville Longbottomin the films, receives a similar letter. There are several shots of other characters receiving similar mail, with the Hogwarts seal. The teaser ends with a female character walking onto the iconic 9 ¾ platform.
It is already known thatHelena Bonham Carter, Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Lewis, and Evanna Lynch will be a part of theHarry Potterreunion special.
HBO Max seems to have become the home to reunion specials. In November 2020, the cast ofThe Fresh Prince of Bel-Aircame back together. In May of this year, after months of speculation and anticipation,theFriendsreunion specialwas also released by the streamer. The episode brought back all the main stars, something that fans had been asking for for years.Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwartswill be the first reunion for a film franchise, and many fans are already looking forward to it.
