Summary
AFallout 4player recently discovered that it’s possible to free-aim while using VATS. VATS, which stands for Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System, was first introduced inFallout 3, and has made an appearance in every main series game ever since. While players are free to play games likeFallout 4as standard first-person shooters, VATS gives them the option of taking a more tactical approach.
Fallout 4VATS lets players slow down time, select their targets, and even target specific limbs. VATS can be used strategically to give players a serious edge in any givenFallout 4firefight, and so it’s important for players to master it. However, even the most dedicatedFallout 4players may not know all there is to know about VATS, as it seems many players were completely unaware of one of its features.

Recently pointed out by Jamie Moran on Twitter, it’s possible to free aim while usingFallout 4VATS. Moran discovered that this was possible simply by holding down the VATS button. They uploaded a clip ofFallout 4VATS free-aiming to Twitter, showing the feature in action as they encountered hostile Scavengersin the Commonwealth. The tweet has amassed 1,700 likes and over 100 comments at the top of this writing, with many otherFallout 4fans admitting that they had no idea the feature existed either.
