Capcom has produced a lot of interesting and influential games over the years, fromMega MantoResident Evil, but even so, the upcomingExoprimalmanages to stand out from the rest. In this newly announced shooter, players form teams of exosuit pilot and battle tides of dinosaurs that are teleporting into near-future Earth through mysterious portals.Exoprimalisn’t quite theDino Crisisrevival that fans of the latter series might have hoped for, but it looks like a compelling action-heavy, dinosaur-battling romp nonetheless. While furtherExoprimaldetails won’t come to light just yet, Capcom has teased a few details, such as the different types of exosuits.

InExoprimal, the variousAnthem-like exosuitsbelong to one of three categories. There are Assault suits, which are meant for dealing damage, Tank suits that distract the enemy, and Support suits that provide healing, buffs, and debuffs to a team. While these are standard categories, players are encouraged to master all ofExoprimal’s gear, because fans can switch between different suits in the heat of battle. Out of all these suits, the Deadeye seems like a great suit to pick up first. InExoprimal, the Deadeye is the bread-and-butter damage dealing suit, allowing players to fight back dinosaur hordes from decent range.

The Deadeye’s Functions in Exoprimal

According to theExoprimalwebsite, the Deadeye suit is designed for long to medium range combat. It’s also described as an easy suit to use, suggesting that it’s probably intended to be a starter suit that helps players acclimate totheExoprimalgameplay loopwith simple, straightforward gunplay. The Deadeye carries an assault rifle with low recoil and a scope, meaning Deadeye players will likely be at liberty to simply hold down the trigger and mow down dinosaurs from a safe distance while Tanks and Supports work together to hold back the enemy.

Each ofExoprimal’s exosuits seems to come with a set of special abilities, and the Deadeye is no exception. It reportedly comes with a palm strike attack that can push enemies back, meaning the Deadeye is equipped to give themselves a little breathing room if dinosaurs break through anExoprimalteam’s front line. The trailer forExoprimalalso suggests that the Deadeye can unleash a huge volley of bullets during certain circumstances, helping them thin out crowds. It’s not clear how many abilities each exosuit inExoprimalhas in total, but it looks like the Deadeye will be focused on simple abilities that deal damage and keep the Deadeye safe.

The Fundamental Exoprimal Damage-Dealer

Screenshots and trailers forExoprimalhint at a much wider variety of exosuits than what Capcom has already revealed; for instance, eagle-eyed fans may have spotted an exosuit seemingly carrying a sniper rifle, meaning Assault players may get a high-accuracy suit byExoprimal’s release. Even ifExoprimaladds lots of new Assault exosuits, though, the Deadeye looks like it’ll remain the most standard, beginner-friendly exosuit by virtue of its simplicity.Capcom has made a wise design choiceinExoprimalby including such a straightforward damage-dealing suit alongside the game’s more elaborate options.

Exoprimalis nothing likethe long-lostDino Crisisfranchise, but it can’t be faulted for its originality. The combination of exosuit-powered combat with colossal, relentless tides of dinosaurs pouring from dimensional rifts adds up to something truly unique. In spite of its flashy, somewhat offbeat premise, though,Exoprimalclearly hasn’t forgotten to have strong fundamentals, as evidenced by the Deadeye suit. Fans eager to start hunting dinosaurs should keep their eyes peeled during early summer 2022, since that’s when Capcom says it’ll reveal further details about this strange new game. Sometime in the next few months, Capcom might reveal some more specific information about the Deadeye’s capabilities.
