Dragon Ball Z: Kakarothas not even been out for two weeks yet, but many fans are looking to the future, wondering what sorts of developments it holds for the beloved game. Rumors and leaks abound hint towards possible content for the season pass, downloadable content, and the potential forKakarotto become a series of video games, but they are very spread out and difficult to parse through. Nevertheless, given the success of the game, it would seem wasteful if it did not evolve and develop into more for fans to enjoy. DespiteDBZ:Kakarot’s impressive length, it has done more to whet players' appetite than to quench their thirst.
For those that are unaware,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarothas thoroughly and almost completely adapted theDragon Ball Zanime, and diving further into this story in this style again is very unlikely. That said, there is still the potential for sequels and downloadable content, not to mention a mysterious season pass which still remains unexplained. Since the game’s release, and even some time before it, rumors, leaks, and wishes have all hinted towards the future ofDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, but it should be said that all these are exactly that, just rumors, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Season Pass
Any players who purchased theDragon Ball Z: Kakarotseason pass may have been surprised to discover that everything it promises has not been revealed yet. The season pass contains two original episodes and one new story, but regarding what those episodes and story will be about or when they will become accessible to players is completely unknown at the time. Given the depth with whichDragon Ball Z’s story has already been explored, it seems likely that this new story will either focus on a less important detail of that or head into new territory, while the original content may focus onDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s original character, Bonyu.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Leaks
Some information has been leaked through datamines and the like. Although this information is somewhat more concrete than rumors, it still is no solid indication of what the next step for the game will be. Perhaps most notably, though, is that dataminers found God of DestructionBeerus and Whis in the game files ofDragon Ball Z: Kakarot. While this certainly indicates that the two may make an appearance in the story moving forward, it is also possible that this was simply cut content. Nevertheless, continuing on intoDragon Ball Superseems like the most logical next step forDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, givenSuper’s place inDragon Ballcanon.
Another dataminer found some unused dialogue in the game files hinting at the possibility of aDLC based onDragon Ball Z: Broly - Second Coming. It describes a bit of dialogue from Videl and also mentions Broly by name. Given that Videl featured heavily inSecond Coming, it would seem that this refers toDragon Ball Z’s version of Broly, although it would be strange to use that Broly after he was finally canonized inDragon Ball Super: Broly. Furthermore, if there really will be aDragon Ball Z: Broly - Second ComingDLC, it stands to reason that the first Broly movie would be adapted as well.

Rumors
Of course, rumors spread like wildfires about the game’s future, and certain content within the game seems to promote that. The inclusion of Android 21, for example, has sparked the curiosity of many fans. Referred to only as “Female Researcher,” she allows the player to use andupgrade the training room, but can also be found in curious locations around the world map, such as the ruins of Dr. Gero’s lab or the site of the Cell Games. It seems that she is looking for something, and this could play a role in future DLC.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s secret bossalso has major implications. After defeating all villainous enemies on the map, Mira and Towa fromDragon Ball Xenoverseappear, and the player must fight the former. Upon his defeat, Towa claims Mira is simply not at full power and the two go to “a different timeline” to gather more energy. The Time Machine may allow for something more here to be explored.
Finally, there are plenty of rumors and potential for the inclusion ofDragon Ball Zmovies orDragon Ball SuperinDragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Fans generally approve ofDragon Ball Super, and many hoped it would be included in the base game. Although it understandably wasn’t, there is still plenty of possibility for any of these stories to make their way into the game, whether through downloadable content or as sequels. There are even some small hints in the current game that point towardsDragon Ball Superas the next step, like the sub-story in which Android 17 reveals he is a park ranger, or Frieza’s comment after being revived by the Namekian Dragon Balls that with training he could easily surpass Goku.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis ripe with potential for the future, and it seems the possibilities for expansions or sequels are nearly endless. With such a beloved franchise and respected retelling of the story,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarothas earned a special place in the anthology ofDragon Ballvideo games, and to let it die after its first entry would seem like a waste. It is very likely that details regarding the season pass and future content will be revealed shortly, but in the meantime, there is still plenty to do inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s post game content.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
