Elden Ringis an RPG with loads of different ways to play. Each class specializes in a different play style that can be used to take down the many terrifying enemies that can be found in the Lands Between. One of the most popular ways to play isusing the faith stat, which is used to master incantations and certain faith-based weapons.

With over 100 different incantations in the game, there are a lot of ways that players can experiment. With that being said, there are some incantations that are often overlooked or possibly never even found. Hopefully, this will give players some insight into the most underrated incantations inElden Ring.
7Fire’s Deadly Sin
Fire’s Deadly Sin is a unique incantation that covers the player and the area surrounding them with flames. This incantation is found by completing the Flightless Bird Painting puzzle. The painting can be found at Fortified Manor, First Floor in west Lyendell. The painter can be found at Windmill Heights and will give the incantation once the painting has been discovered.
The Fire’s Deadly Sin incantation damages the player as well as others, but, with the right build, it can be extremely deadly. For example, fire removes frost build-up, so players could use this alongside an ice attack to constantly apply frostbite damage.
6Black Flame Ritual
Black Flame Ritual is an offensive incantation that casts a circle of black flames around the player. It is dropped by the Godskin Apostle and Godskin Nobleboss fight in Spiritcaller’s Cave. This cave is blocked by a door requiring two stonesword keys to open, but it is definitely worth it.
The Black Flame Ritual incantation works great in PVE and PVP as a small AOE attack that can be very annoying to deal with. Used by the Godskin Noble himself, players who’ve fought him should already know just how deadly this incantation can be.
5Darkness
Darkness is an incantation that’s used to create an area of darkness around the caster to conceal them from enemies. For those who didn’t know, prayerbooks found throughout the game can be handed to some NPCs in order to add new incantations to their available merchandise. After finding the Assassin’s Prayerbook past the second Imp Statue door in the Roundtable Hold,it can be given to Corhynor Miriel to purchase Darkness.
The Darkness incantation can help those who are interested in exploring the stealth mechanics ofElden Ring. Even though it doesn’t work on all enemies, it can allow players to sneak past some and fish for backstabs to get massive damage.
4Barrier Of Gold
Barrier of Gold is an incantation that greatly increases magic damage negation for players and all nearby allies. It can be found in Leyndell, Royal Capital near the Godfrey, First Elden Lord (Gold Shade) boss fight. After heading down the nearby stairs and taking the elevator,it’ll be dropped by a teardrop scarab.

A lot of faith users tend to focus on offensive incantations that spew fire or buff their damage. Some like this that add defensive buffs can be overlooked. It is especially useful in PVP where a lot of players use magic sorcery spells.
3Dragonice
Dragonice is a dragon communion incantation that channels the power of a dragon to spew icy breath. It can be purchased at the Dragon Communion Altar for one dragon heart. Most players who use dragon incantations tend to use the scarlet rot or fire-related abilities.
Dragonice is often overlooked since frost is not as goodof a status effect as some others. However, it is possible to build a strong character that focuses on icy attacks and dragonice is one that shouldn’t be ignored, especially in the early game.
2Immutable Shield
Immutable Shield is another defensive incantation that increases the player’s left-hand shield affinity and ailment resistance. It is available for purchase from Corhyn after he reaches the coliseum overlooking Leyndell during his quest.
Shields aren’t quite as popularinElden Ringas they were in previous FromSoft games, most likely due to the buff rolling received. This doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible to create a good shield build though. Hopefully, finding this incantation will make players experiment some more with other play styles.
1Frozen Lightning Spear
Frozen Lightning Spear is an incantation that conjures an ice lightning spear from above and sends it towards opponents while leaving a trail of lightning behind. It is dropped by the Dragonskin Soldier of Nokstella found in the south-western section of Ainsel River.
There are many lightning abilities inElden Ring, but the Frozen Lightning Spear is one of the only ice lightning attacks in the entire game. While the red lightning incantations are very popular in PVE and PVP, ice lightning can be a nice alternative for players looking for something different. While it may not be as powerful as some of the others, it has a very flashy animation and is useful when combined with other incantations.
