After several years of active development,Elden Ringis finally available for commercial purchase and so far, many players have liked what they see. With expansive, detailed environments for players to explore, combat mechanics on par with the rest of the FromSoftware’s titles, and imaginative lore for players to uncover,Elden Ringcertainly has a lot to offer its player base. However, there also appears to be an Easter egg that pays tribute to the man whose work many consider to be the key inspiration forDark Soulsas it exists today.
TheBerserkmanga inspired not justDark Souls, but bothBloodborneandSekiroas well, with various different aspects of the narrative, characters, and architecture serving as integral components to the design of most FromSoftware games. Sadly, the author ofBerserk, Kentaro Miura, passed away last year, but Miura’s work still resonates withinElden Ringin the form of an homage toBerserk’slead character, Guts.

There’s a greatsword that can be discovered inElden Ringthat looks nearly identical to the greatsword that Guts wields in theBerserkmanga. Clearly, this is intended to honor not just Guts, but the late manga author as well. For longtime fans of bothBerserkandDark Souls, this Easter Egg will be sure to excite.
When Kentaro Miura passed, many fans of bothBerserkand theSoulsseries were quite devastated. To the point where, last year, after Miura’s passing, fansflooded theElden Ringsubreddit withBerserkappreciation postsin order to honor Miura. Now thatElden Ringhas officially released, there will likely be plenty moreBerserk-relatedEaster eggs and tributes for players to find.
It’s amazing how much success and attentionElden Ringhas received in such a short time frame. DespiteElden Ring’srelease date delay, many players have taken to the game quite quickly. Given that this is FromSoftware’s first crack at an open-world game, there’s sure to be a plethora of additional content and Easter Eggs for players to find.
In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds forElden Ringgoing forward. Considering how recently the game has launched, it’s unlikely that fans will see any additional content forElden Ringanytime soon. However, numerous FromSoftware titles, including bothDark Souls 3andBloodborne,would both later receive DLC. So, it’s possible thatElden Ringcould receive the same treatment in the months to come.
