Dying Light 2is entering its second year of support, with Techland previously confirming at least five years of support for the game, and DLC 2 is coming this year. This doesn’t mean just small fixes and tweaks alongside story content, though, as Techland previously announced major overhauls regarding its combat, parkour, and nighttime experiences. All of this,franchise director Tymon Smektalatells Game Rant, is a build-up for DLC 2.
The past year ofDying Light 2has been experimental to find out what fans want out of the game. The various events and even the release ofDying Light 2’s Bloody Ties DLC were all designed in such a way, and this feedback and experiments informed Techland’s decisions on what to make for DLC 2. “We heard voices saying people wanted an open-world narrative focused on zombies and infected, so this is exactly what the DLC will be,” said Smektala.

WhereasDying Light 2’s Bloody Tieswas an experiment and was Techland’s take on an arena format, Smektala stated the next DLC will be a “traditional take.” There are four key components players can expect out of this DLC that can help form expectations: new region, open-world format, narrative-driven, and focus on the infected. Smektala understandably couldn’t add more, but did say that more news is on the horizon, as its release date gets closer.
It’s a new region, it’s open-world, and it’s narrative-driven with a focus on the infected. I think you’re able to already be shaping what it’ll look like in the end, and the closer we get to the release date, we will reveal more. We don’t want to hold off that information too much, because it’s exciting to us, and we want our players to be excited as well. We just want to do things step by step.
Dying Light 2DLCmay be one of the most anticipated updates on the horizon, but it’s far from the only major change coming this year. It’s not just the big stuff, though. Smektala and Techland aim to work on some iteration of every fan request out there, regardless of how big or small.
In addition to changes to those systems this year and the release of DLC 2, fans are getting smallDying Light 2tweaks such as the ability to skip the opening panels of the game, like the Techland logo, so they can hop into it faster. There seems to be a lot coming to the game this year, and fans can expect more news in the coming weeks and months.
