However, 5 years later,there is still no news regarding season 2. Dragon Ball Super: Broly
Following the end of the Tournament of Power arc in the manga, we got the newest addition to the franchise a mere 9 months later inDragon Ball Super: Broly, a movie that finally made 2 fan favorite characters' canon to the overall story ofDragon Ball.Broly was introduced as an incredibly powerful Saiyanwith more potential than anyone we had seen before in the story other than Frieza, easily eclipsing both Vegeta and Goku in power.
This caused them to fuse to turn intoGogeta, yet another character finally made canonin this movie. What followed was one of the most visually appealing and well-animated anime fights ever and the end of the movie cemented Broly as a good guy who would later join the Z-Fighters. This would be an incredible addition to season 2 ofSuperas fans would get amazing action and would be able to spend more time with these new characters that have been added to the mix.
The Moro Arc
The Moro arc was the first part of the story that was exclusive to the manga and took place right after the end ofDragon Ball Super: Broly. The arcbegins with introducing us to a new villain, Moro, who is a prisoner of the Galactic Patrol. However, as the arc went on, Moro came to escape the prison and began his rampage once more. This was a cause for great concern and made the Galactic Patrol seek out Goku and Vegeta in hopes that their power would be enough to stop the villain.
Just as things were looking bleak for the Z-Fighters, Goku would unlock anability completely unlike anything we had ever seenin the series before. This Spirit Avatar, as fans have called it, was a giant avatar made of Ki which was powered by Vegeta’s Forced Spirit Fission. With the combination of these moves, Goku was able to put down the monster for good.

The Granolah Arc
The Granolah Arc was one of the very few times in the franchise’s history that had some semblance of a greater, overarching plot. More than just facing a new opponent that just happened to be stronger, this arc dealt with themes of consequences and responsibility, as Goku and Vegeta fought against a powerful enemy whoseentire planet was destroyed by the Saiyans. Granolah held a grudge against the heroes and vowed to defeat them.
This arc introduced a new transformation for Vegeta that put him above even Goku at that stage in the story;Ultra Ego, which was the perfect next stepfor the Prince. As the fights went on, it became clear that Granolah was not the true enemy of the arc and that everything was being manipulated by the Heeters. After an even more powerful enemy would show up causing a team-up between the Saiyans and Granolah, the arc would end on a massive cliffhanger andthe introduction of Black Frieza, a character far more powerful than even the Ultimate Forms of our heroes.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero
The latest iteration of the animated canon ofDragon Ball Super: Super Hero, which was a movie centered around Piccolo and Gohan. This movie saw the return ofthe infamous Red Ribbon Armywhich Goku had destroyed back inDragon Ball. The introduction of Gamma #1 and Gamma #2 put the heroes in quite a lot of danger at the start of the film.

Towards the end of the movie, Piccolo unlocks a powerful new form after which both of the new Androids renounce their evil ways, only for the Z-Fighters to be faced with Cell Max, one of the most powerful enemies ever shown in the franchise. Cell Max proved to be too great of a threat, causing Gohan to tap into something even deeper andunlock his Beast transformationwhich put him back into the top echelons of power inDragon Ball.
What to Expect
Dragon Ball Supertends to focus on characters more than ever before. Every single character seems to go through a lot of character development as their tales are nuanced and their inner conflicts are brought to the attention of the viewer. Whether it’s Goku learning the truth of his power and how he needs to unlock his fullest potential orVegeta coming to terms with who he is, season 2 of the series would cover all of this and bring a more relatable side to the characters.
While many already seem to agree that Vegeta is the most nuanced and well-developed character in the entire series, the Granolah arc furthers this point tenfold. In the beginning,Vegeta realizes that Ultra Instinct is a techniquethat is entirely at odds with who he is and how he fights, so he needs to reach that level via some other path. This is when Beerus teases the idea of another divine technique that perfectly suits the Saiyan Prince and one thatthe Destroyer God could teach him; Ultra Ego.
The spectacle in season 2 would also be phenomenal, as the series ups the ante in terms of battles and scenarios. With entire planets at stake at different points in the story, the battles in season 2 are crazier than ever and introduce new moves and aspects of the series that will be considered staples. One such example is the usage of Goku’s Spirit Avatar, as well asUltra Ego Vegeta’s battle against Granolah. Gas, also, brings a new power system to the series in terms of how he fights with Ki weapons, really mixing things up and making the fights way more engaging.
There are many reasons why season 2 ofDragon Ball Superhas the potential of being the best one yet that are best exemplified in the manga. With all the wonderful character moments and amazing arcs that the movies and manga are telling,Dragon Ball Superseason 2 has all the makings of being an absolute game-changer.
