At the start ofDisney Dreamlight Valley, there aren’t many gems that players will have access to. From the get-go,Disney Dreamlight Valleydoes not make it clear what the gems are used for. But it is important for players to find and gather as many gems as they can because they are useful for many thingsaside from getting more Star Coins. Where to Find Peridots

Disney Dreamlight Valleyplayers will not need to venture far to find Peridots. Since they are found early on in the game, playersshould use their pickaxeon black rocks found in the Peaceful Meadow and Dazzle Beach. If players happen to see a black rock with light green gems sticking out of it, they should prioritize thoseas they guarantee a Peridot will drop from them.Even if these spots that guarantee a gem have the wrong color, players should still mine them anyway, as that will cause more rocks to spawn after a bit of time passes.

One important thingDisney Dreamlight Valleyplayers should be aware of is thatother gems can drop when mining the black rocks along the biome walls. In addition to Peridot, Garnets andAquamarines can spawn from black rocksin the Peaceful Meadow and Dazzle Beach. So hunting for a particular gem like Peridot may yield mixed results for players, and some amount of patience will be required.

What Are Peridots Used For?

Early on, it seems like gems are just used for selling. Even one of the first quests from Scrooge McDuck is to sell gems to Goofy. However, asDisney Dreamlight Valleyplayers progress, they will unlock crafting recipes that require gems.

In the case of Peridots, there are a few decorationsthat require them for crafting. Two examples would be the Green Light Low Beach Torch and Green Light High Beach Torch. These two decorations require five Softwood, five Fiber, three Sand, and one Peridot to craft.

Beyond crafting, Peridots occasionally show up as a quest objective. A good example of this isone of Ariel’s Friendship Quests, where players need to gather the pieces of a statue. Scrooge McDuck is willing to part with his piecein exchange for five Peridots. It has to be Peridots specifically and not Shiny Peridots. Since there are plenty of updates on the horizon forDisney Dreamlight Valley, it is entirely possible that future quests added to the game will require either Peridots or Shiny Peridots. So it is recommended that players try to set some aside in storage just in case.

Disney Dreamlight Valleyis available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
