Summary

WithDiablo 4’s Season of Bloodcurrently running, it’s not much of a surprise to find out that Blizzard is concocting yet another marketing scheme to promote it. The new season introduces new content and addresses a lot of major complaints from the previous one. As the name suggests, the focus this time is on blood, specifically, vampire hunter questlines and new vampiric powers. Interestingly enough, one of the key promotions tied up with the season deals with an on-brand response.

Diablo 4will allow players to join a giveaway that will reward one lucky player with a high-end gaming PC that is infused with real human blood. The “Blood Harvest” event will run until November 20 and will allow US-based gamers the opportunity to donate blood at any blood bank to fill up an online blood fountain by uploading proof of their donation. The said fountain will dispense in-game rewards every 222 quartz of blood donations confirmed. At certain percentages of achieving the target blood donation goal, players can earn “Bloodpetal” weapon cosmetics, the Vermillion Eye Piebald, and the Loch Raeth Maor Barbarian set. Upon completion of the goal, the sweepstakes will also unlock, allowing all players to try to win a gaming PC via the raffle, including those who did not donate. While there was no disclosure of how much blood was infused in the PC, the gimmicky nature might catch many fans' attention.

This is not the first time thatDiablo-inspired prizes were given away. Recently Xbox gave players the chance to win aDiablo 4-inspired Xbox Series X. While that item might not be as out-of-this-world as the blood-infused PC, it was still a sight to behold, and an effective marketing ploy, even if the Series X was nonfunctional. Collector’s items such as these would really give huge fans their claim to fame should they win the prize.

Amid all these promotions,Diablo 4has been getting some flakfrom Steam users. While the franchise continues to hit record-breaking sales figures, negative feedback follows it. The balancing act that Blizzard must provide in order to appease fans and provide quality service is a tough one. Hopefully, non-Diabloplayers can look past the review bombing, and try the game out for themselves. The contests and events that the team is running should be able to hook casuals to take a look and enjoy the title.

Diablo 4is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
