The general changes in difficulty that were recently made toDestiny 2have been a major point of debate among the game’s community, and many players are feeling dissatisfied with the rewards that are earned from completing some of the higher-level content. Though many new exotic quests have been introduced along withDestiny 2: Lightfall, farming for existing exotics has become significantly more tedious as a result of certain tweaks to the game.

Thelatest expansion forDestiny 2has certainly brought a wide variety of new powers, weapons, and exotics to the game, with Strand offering Guardians many new ways to fight while also being a more easily-upgradeable subclass when compared to the previous Darkness subclass, Stasis. Even more new content and gear were introduced more recently with the Root of Nightmares raid activity, which itself presents the opportunity to earn exclusive armor sets for each class as well as several new weapons, including the Conditional Finality exotic shotgun.

A surprisingly large portion of players havealready beaten the new raid inDestiny 2, and while the activity’s unprecedented clear rate in contest mode has certainly resulted in many players viewing it as easy, the same can’t be said for much of the other endgame content thatLightfallintroduces. One member of the community with the username betachief77 on Reddit shares their thoughts on the topic via a post on Reddit, claiming that the exceptional increase in Legend lost sector difficulty makes farming for exotic gear much less efficient. Higher-level lost sectors previously offered one of the few consistent methods of farming for specific exotics, and while earning exotics from them is still possible on occasion, many players don’t consider the increased challenges to be worth the often-disappointing rewards.

On top of that, the substantial increase in enemies' power levels in these activities drives away much of the game’s more casual audience. The community remains fairly polarized with regard to thechanges to difficulty inDestiny 2, with many challenge-seeking players instead arguing that these tweaks encourage players to be far more engaged during fights. While an increase in challenge may improve many aspects of the game for players that are specifically seeking it, the majority of vocal fans appear to be in agreement that the increase in difficulty requires a matching increase in reward.

Destiny 2: Lightfallhas been particularly controversialamong fans since its launch, and while it certainly isn’t without its strengths, its narrative flaws in particular have attracted harsh criticism from the gaming community. WithThe Final ShapeDLC looking to be only a year away, fans are hoping that the game’s upcoming seasons provide answers to the community’s most burning questions.
