Destiny 2’s upcoming expansion, The Final Shape, is arguably one of the most anticipated expansions in the MMO’s history. As it claims that it will bring the light and darkness saga that began in the firstDestinygame to a head, it is the culmination of nearly ten years ofDestinycontent, so a lot is riding on it to give players a satisfying conclusion, even though it’s unlikeDestiny 2will truly end anytime soon. Alongside what will likely be an explosive conclusion toDestiny’s ongoing narrative arc, a new location will be added to the game, as well as a new subclass, exotic overhauls, and a new enemy faction.

While The Final Shape will come packed with content forDestiny 2, there is one feature that has yet to be confirmed — a feature that has been highly requested for some time now, and one that would fit in well with The Final Shape. It’s unclear whether The Final Shape will see this particular feature added, but there is little reason why it shouldn’t, especially considering how much it could benefit players in the long run and simultaneously reinforce Bungie’s recent emphasis on buildcrafting. This feature is, of course, a proper training room or shooting range where players can practice applying their builds without needing to worry about any real danger.

Destiny 2’s Final Shape Expansion Should Add a Training Room

Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence Gave Players a Shooting Range in the Tribute Hall

WhenDestiny 2players think of “shooting range” or “training room,” they typically think of the Tribute Hall fromDestiny 2’s Season of Opulence. One of the Tribute Hall’s primary purposes was to provide players with a unique way to track their Season of Opulence triumphs by adding Tributes to pedestals in the main room. Some of these Tributes would appear as strictly visual pieces, but others would act as simulated enemies for players to test their weapons and skills on. The Tribute Hall rose to popularity quickly, as it provedBungie’s commitment to buildcrafting. Unfortunately, the Tribute Hall was removed fromDestiny 2when its Beyond Light expansion was released in 2020, and players have been requesting its return ever since.

The Final Shape Could Have an Even Better Training Room Than the Tribute Hall

Despite all that theTribute Hallbrought to the table, The Final Shape could introduce an even better training room/shooting range by allowing players the freedom to customize their training parameters. For example, if The Final Shape were to add a training room that allowed players to customize which enemies they would be fighting, how difficult those enemies would be to defeat, and perhaps even an opportunity to test out weapons they had yet to obtain that could only be used in the training room itself, it would not only encourage more experimentation with builds, but it might also help casual players increase their skill and their drive to obtain certain weapons. A new training room could even go as far as to allow players to customize and test specific weapon rolls to determine which rolls they would need to hunt down.

The addition of thePrismatic subclassmakes a new training room more relevant than ever in The Final Shape, as it is essentially an open door to class customization that is unlike anythingDestiny 2has ever seen. While the Prismatic subclass does come with limitations, it will still offer players an unprecedented amount of freedom to experiment with a melting pot of skills they have never been able to utilize before.

This makes a training room of some kind almost necessary inThe Final Shape, as it would encourage players to get creative with their Prismatic build. However, even if the Prismatic subclass wasn’t a thing,Destiny 2has arguably never been more in need of a proper training room than it is now.
