The first Trials of Osiris ofDestiny 2is currently live and has been for just over a day. And in that time, a specific meta forthe Trials of Osiris pinnacle Elimination game modeis starting to develop. While the meta could shift over time from weekend to weekend or even over the course of the season, here is what appears to be the most popular armor and weapons being used in Trials of Osiris this early in its lifecycle.
Many of the weapons that were predicted to be competitive are indeed popular, although thanks to the weapon balancing that came in the update accompanyingDestiny 2’s Season of the Worthy, a new weapon class has soared to the top of the meta. Likewise, it appears that exotic armor has been pigeonholed into a certain role that is popular this weekend.

Auto Rifles are king
Far and away, the most popular weapon in Trials of Osiris this weekend is the exotic auto rifle Hard Light. After the 600 RPM Adaptive Frame auto rifles received a buff at the start of the seasonthat made auto rifles much more viable, Hard Light stood out even further with its recent reduction of screen shake and its exotic perk that allows its bullets to not experience the damage dropoff that keeps all other auto rifles in check, plus its ability to bounce rounds off walls for increased damage.
Most people predicted Hard Light would be good but it has proven to be extremely popular. SUROS Regime is also seeing use for the same reason, as the buff to auto rifles makes it highly effective especially with the Spinning Up perk and its ability to heal on a kill.
As expected many of PvP’s best weapons also have a place in Trials.Revoker is very popular on Burnout, which has very established sniper lanes. Revoker allows teams to play pretty passively and hold a lane to wait for an opponent to make a mistake and wander into the lane to get picked off. Mindbender’s Ambition and Dust Rock Blues are the top shotguns, likely to no one’s surprise. And Beloved, Thorn, Spare Rations, Not Forgotten, and Jotunn have all found a place in the meta as well.
Exotic Armor: All about mobility
Some exotic armor got substantial buffs at the beginning of the season, such as an increase to Khepri’s Sting’s Smoke Grenade damage. But what is proving to be very commonly seen in the playlist are exotics that increase players' movement speed, such as Dunemarchers, St0mp-EE5, and Transversive Steps. The reason for this is not only for the increased mobility within duels, but often in Trials, the sprint to establish a presence in a sniper lane at the start of a match can drastically improve a team’s chances of getting a pick and winning the round.
Other exotics are absolutely viable in Trials of Osiris and could be used to improve specific playstyles, but it seems that especially in the race to control the lanes that play such a role on Burnout, some players are switching off of exotics that buff their abilities in favor of moving quicker.
Trials of Osiris runs through the weekend up until the weekly reset on Tuesday. It returns next Friday upon the daily reset.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
