Death Stranding: Director’s Cutlaunched on PS5 in 2021 as the definitive way to play the game, packing new features and content not found in the original game. Many were hoping that this re-release ofDeath Strandingwould find its way to PC, and sure enough, theDirector’s Cutjust got a release date.

Following a brief leak at the beginning of the month, 505 Games confirmed thatDeath Stranding: Director’s Cutwas coming to PC very soon. There was a definitive desire by gamers for such a port as the base version ofDeath Strandingreleased on PC in June 2020, less than a year after it originally released on PS4. This version of the game gave players more control over the game’s performance as well as special crossover content with the then-recently releasedHalf-Life: Alyx. For those who waited to experienceDeath Stranding: Director’s Cuton PC, they won’t have too much longer to wait.

In a new blog post on the officialDeath Strandingwebsite, 505 Games confirms thatDeath Stranding: Director’s Cutis coming to PC on March 30. Antonela Pounder, Director of Global Community at 505 Games, explains in their article that the game will be available for purchase on Steam and the Epic Games Store for $39.99, 10 dollars cheaper than thePS5 version ofDeath Stranding: Director’s Cut. Players who already own the originalDeath Strandingcan upgrade to theDirector’s Cutat launch for $9.99 as long as they have the base version installed on their PC.

Players looking to carry over their save data from the original to theDirector’s Cutcan rest assured as they will have the option to do. Unfortunately, Pounder doesn’t have anything further to say on this subject, though more information will become available closer to the game’s launch.

Right now as part of theLunar New Year Sale on Steamand the Epic Games Store,Death Strandingis being discounted for 70% and 65% off respectively. Purchasing the game at either of these discounts along with theDirector’s Cutupgrade charge can save players upwards of $13, as opposed to buyingDeath Stranding: Director’s Cutat full price.

It is a shame that the PC release ofDeath Stranding: Director’s Cutisn’t packing any surprise crossovers as the original PC release did. However, there may still just be some special content in store as Pounder closes out the article writing, “We have some cool stuff planned for our Porters.” While this most likely in regard to future community events, one can still hope that there are some last minute twists just waiting to be announced. IfCyberpunk 2077content could come toDeath Strandingwell after its release, surely there are new items to be implemented.
