DC Comicshas been releasing issues of wondrous stories featuring Diana Prince for eighty years, so it is not surprising that in that time they have changed and even completely shifted thepowers of Wonder Woman.

Unlike Superman and Batman,Wonder Womanhas not had as many infamous parts of her inventory of powers and weapons. The lasso of truth and her bracelets have become iconic, butDChas never had to explain some of the less major shifts in her appearance and powers,making it easy to tryout some new things which may or may not have been quietly and quickly abandoned.
6The Quick Change
While Wonder Woman didn’t usually need such a dramatic and unusual power in DC Comics, Lynda Carter often needed a quick shift from her everyday clothing into the wardrobe of the costumed wonder during theWonder WomanTV show madefamous in the 1970s.
While being able to quickly change from one costume into another is technically a power in its own right, the process occurred while Diana turned around quickly, so really the power involved here is super speed, one of Wonder Woman’s better-known abilities. Still, watching her twirl and come out as Wonder Woman is a classic image, and it became one of her recognizable strengths.
5Astral Projection
Yes, at one early stage in her career, Wonder Woman had more metaphysical abilities such as the capability to teleport her consciousness into another plane of reality. She would use this power to go to places like Olympus, or Hell itself. While it isn’tcommonly used anymore, this power did survive in the post-Crisis space for a time.
Originally, powers like this were given to Diana to help separate her power set from that of Superman, as he was to remain more of a plain flying, super-strength being, while she was supposed to diverge somewhat from these powers. Astral Projection was useful in her fighting of crime, but there was a minor difficulty that she discovered the hard way. While engaging in astral projection, Diana’s body could be harmed by any damage her projection suffered in whatever realm she was appearing into.
4Forceful Change
One of the strangest abilitiesthat Wonder Woman has exhibited, indicative of how she was originally conceived by psychologist William Moulton Marston, was to be able to force people to change their hearts by tying them up. Her lasso of truth has long been known as an object which could force people to be honest, but in early Wonder Woman stories that’s not all that she does with it.

Wonder Woman also forces a change in the hearts of evildoers in some of her earliest stories, such as making a corrupt CEO reform and become a better person using bondage and forcing him to submit. The ideas of Marston were drastic and involved believing that most of the evils of the world had been committed by men. He thought that if women were in charge, the world would be a better place, so he wanted to show Wonder Woman enabling these ideas by forcing evil men to submit and change.
3Darkness Manipulation
This hasn’tbeen shown technically, but Wonder Woman defeated the God of War Ares in a 2013 comic book run. To stop another from absorbing his powers and becoming the new God of War, Diana had to kill Ares herself and became the new War.
Many of the terrifying and dark abilities which Ares exhibited over the course of their many battles must have passed to Diana. From raising dark armies of warriors to fight for her, to manipulating darkness itself and gaining power from violence and conflict, there are many abilities that Diana must have had but never used during this run in the comics.
2Magic
It isn’t often thatDiana is shown fighting alongsidethe darker and more magically-focused DC characters like John Constantine and Zatanna. However, Diana is from a world steeped in magical influence, and she was revealed while working with the dark Justice League to have a huge volume of raw magical energy inside of her.
While the dark Justice League confronted the Upside-Down Man, Diana managed to unleash the powers she didn’t know anything about, and is an absolutely terrifying sight. This ability being within Diana at all times, the capability to unleash a wave of destructive magic, is slightly alarming, especially since she never really got a grip on controlling such force.
1Talking To Animals
While it isn’t perhaps the most powerful or useful ability that she has shown over the last eighty years, Diana can also communicate with animals. From early in her first comic run, Diana has on several occasions spoken with a litany of animals ranging frompolar bears to dinosaurs.
Like a Disney Princess, Diana has even shown an ability to command animals. Aquaman gets the flack for talking to fish, but Wonder Woman has been speaking to more types of creatures than even he for decades now. As the God of War, Diana can command almost any race of creature on the planet to do her bidding, which makes her a truly terrifying force in case she ever decides to go rogue.
