The universe in theDC League of Super-Petscelebrates the DC universe and embraces the silly aspects of the comics that the more serious live-action DCEU would not.

Considering that theDC League of Super-Petsholds no origin for this DC Universe, many of the easter eggs may not be for the casual viewers. This does not take away from the film itself, as most of the easter eggs are references in the background to the fun animated action that is in the front and center. However, the easter eggs available to audiences can be a fun time for the best DC Comics readers.
8Orange Kryptonite
A heavy influence on the plot ofDC League of Super-Petsis the arrival of Orange Kryptonite. This version of Kryptonite is stolen by Lex Luthor, as his research showed that it will give him powers. However, his guinea pig, LuLu, discovers that Orange Kryptonite only works on pets, hence why she and the other animals develop superpowers.
In the comics, only die-hard readers would know that Orange Kryptonite is one of many colors seen in the comics. Comic readers have seen all colors of thespectrum for Kryptonite, all with their unique abilities. However, Orange Kryptonite was only ever seen in theTiny Titanscomic, but like the film, it was also in possession of Lex Luthor.

7Stryker’s Island
Metropolis is a bright location, which often lacks rain or night in the comics, due to it being the place of hopethanks to Superman. However, such a dark location exists on Metropolis, and that location is none other than Stryker’s Island. This location serves as Metropolis’ largest prison facility, almost like a version of Alcatraz, but filled with supervillains.
In the film, Lex Luthor is thrown into Stryker’s Island for being a supervillain. The location in the film is notoriously empty, which means that either Superman’s villains are on vacation, or they’re in a different sublevel. However, the location in the comics houses many supervillains like Parasite, a former janitor who absorbs power upon touch, allowing him to evolve and strengthen.

6Mercy Graves
Many supervillains can be seen with a sidekick of their own, or a henchwoman to do their bidding. This is no different from Lex Luthor, who is often seen with Mercy Graves. This character appears inDC League of Super-Petsalongside Luthor, and the film does a good job at advocating for why she deserves a raise.
In the comics, Mercy Graves was hired by Lex Luthor to be a Lexcorp-employed bodyguard. She was his sole bodyguard and assisted him in many of his evil doings. Mercy is also from Amazon heritage, putting her skills up there with Wonder Woman as a combatant. Her combat skills are nothing to mess with, as she can hold her own in a fight with the Justice League.

5Jonah Hex

Fans of the DC Comics Universe would instantly recognize the hat and the name, as Jonah Hex is a renowned bounty hunter in the American Old West. Jonah belongs in the 19th century and has only entered the modern world thanks to comic shenanigans. Perhaps in theDC League of Super-Petsuniverse, Jonah Hex has left behind his guns and cowboy ways to own a steakhouse.
4Not Earth-1
DC is rather famous for existing in a Multiverse. The Multiverse has existed in DC Comics since the early 1960s and has continued to be the source of stories of Earth and on a cosmic scale. The Multiverse consists of multiple universes, that all exist in the same physical space. They are separate but can interact depending on the technology or speed of vibrations to some characters.
The Multiverse is confirmed for DC League of Super-Pets, as Lois Lane calls the Justice League helpline after Superman is attacked in Metropolis. Lois rolls her eyes as she receives an automated response, asking her to click the number to her corresponding Earth. Notably, Lois Lane does not select “Earth-1” which is usually the Prime Earth of the comic’s continuity.

3Mister Mxyzptlk
When audiences are first introduced to Lois Lane in the DC League of Super-Pets, she is finishing a report on Mister Mxyzpltk, and how he was defeated by saying his name backward. To the casual viewer, this may just seem like a fun and random gag before Superman and Krypto meet Lois Lane, but to the comic fan, this will perk their ears due to the mention of a famed Superman character.
Mister Mxyzptlk has a backstory as strange and befitting of his name. He is an imp from the Fifth Dimension and a character who periodically visits Superman to harass him and cause him grief. Mxy went from a serious student to a silly prankster, and annoyed Superman on more occasions than the Last Son of Krypton would like. However, the character can be defeated if he is tricked into saying his name backward.

2B’rr, The Green Lantern
During the film, Jessica Cruz’s Green Lantern mentions her bond with an animal Green Lantern that was also a raccoon. She mentions that this raccoon thought they were dating, so she stopped being friends with the raccoon. This raccoon is most likely a reference to B’rr, a member of the Green Lantern Corps in DC Comics.
B’rr has limited appearances in the plethora of characters in the Green Lantern Corps. However, the character was the Green Lantern of Sector 1014 and died during Doctor Ub’x’s invasion fleet. With his death, Ch’p was his Green Lantern successor, a character that teams with Krypto in the DC League of Super-Pets.

1Black Adam Cameo
It’s a long-standing tradition that superhero films have a mid-credits scene and a post-credits scene.DC League of Super-Petsis no exception to that rule and has both. If patient fans stick through the credits, they will see something they have anticipated for a long time.Black Adam finally meets Superman. Black Adam is played by Dwayne Johnson, the same actor for the live-action DCEU role, and the voice of Krypto the Super-Dog.
Having Black Adam in the film is both a fun nod to the actor who plays him, and a fun tease to the fans that have eagerly awaited the characters ofBlack Adam and Superman to clash in a live-action film. Perhaps one day, fans will have their wish fulfilled fully.
