WithDying Light 2 Stay Humanfinally released, fans of the original game are ecstatic to continue the story from the previous instalment. With2022 shaping up to be an exceptional year for titles in the horror genre,Dying Light 2looks to stand out from the crowd with its extensive mobility features and doubling down on the action RPG elements that made developer Techland’s previous games successful.
Dying Light 2takes place 22 years after the original game and is set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by a zombie outbreak. It follows a new protagonist, Aiden Caldwell. Techland has been very upfront of how it plans to support the game following its release,including a DLC roadmapthat explains how Techland will support it with DLC for at least the next five years.

Another developer that has major plans for following through on DLC expansions is CD Projekt Red with its titleCyberpunk 2077. The game, which launched in 2020 to disastrous results on consoles, has been steadily receiving new updates to fix technical issues and other problems. Both titles have been the topic of post launch support, withDying Light 2’sDLC plan possibly fated to following inCyberpunk’sfootsteps, but both developers appear to have support for one another, as demonstrated by CD Projekt Red’s most recent tweet.
Alongside impeccable fan-art, CD Projekt Red congratulated Techland on the launch ofDying Light 2, along with the caption “Looks like there’s another city to burn.” This quote being in reference to one ofCyberpunk’sprotagonists Johnny Silverhand, portrayed in the game byThe Matrix’sKeanu Reeves.
It’s always a pleasure to see developers lift each other up and encourage each other when their competitors release new titles, showing that while the industry is still dominated by competition, it’s still a fun a collaborative process. And with CD Projekt Red’s status among fans starting to soften, especially with the amount of content it has planned forCyberpunk 2077in 2022, it’s cool to see the company express love for other teams working in the industry.
Whilereviews forDying Light 2have expressed a mixed response, it’s nice to see the industry itself supporting each other with every new release, and hopefully more standards such as these can be set for other studios to follow suit.
Dying Light 2 Stay Humanis now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Nintendo Switch port is development for later this year.
