As of today,Resident Evil Villageis officially two weeks away from release, bringing to a fever pitch tons of hype and anticipation for the eighth mainline entry in the survival horror franchise. Last weekend, Capcom gave lucky PlayStation owners access to the Village portion of the demo, with the consensus on Twitter being overall positive. Tomorrow is when access to the Castle area ofResident Evil Villagewill be made available, allowing players to fully explore the domain of Lady Dimitrescu.

Resident Evil Villagefans are already more than well accustomed to the vampiric Alcina Dimitrescu as well as her three daughters, though otherwise details about what to expect inside the Castle have been scarce. Still, the matriarch no doubt has plans for Ethan Winters while the protagonist searches for his daughter Rose. Much likethe other main villains inResident Evil Village, Lady Dimitrescu will have her own encounters and boss mechanics that intensify the gameplay experience.

Although Lady Dimitrescu is much like Mr. X or Jack fromResident Evil 7, Capcom took a different approach withVillage. The Castle is split up into two parts, having a well-lit upper area and a colder, dark prison area below, with potentially more to be discovered. The environment was created with the vision that players would enjoy the setting when not trying to run or avoid any intense enemy encounters.

Due tothe resolution targets that the PS5 can handle, owners also get access to an extra level of immersion. With the PS5 DualSense controller, players have the opportunity to experience the 3D audio around them while navigating the Castle, along with adaptive triggers that help convey the extra weight of Ethan’s weapons. He has a larger arsenal available this time around, giving players a variety of ways to strategize how they handle an encounter.

Thankfully, the highly-anticipated title won’tstruggle to deliver the same experience for PS4 owners. Capcom and PlayStation worked just as hard to ensure thatResident Evil Villagewould be just as terrifying and immersive on the previous generation as it would on the next.

Either way, it won’t be long before players see the interiors of Castle Dimitrescu in all of their glory. Some appear to have even been able toget early copies ofResident Evil Village, meaning it’s only a matter of time before players can fully investigate every detail of the massive fortress.

Resident Evil Villagelaunches May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
