Udon Entertainment and Capcom will be producing a set of comics based on the upcomingStreet Fighter 6. This upcoming fighting game is currently one of the most anticipated of Capcom’s releases for 2023. This positive reception has been quite widespread, with thereturning and new characters being introduced inStreet Fighter 6being one of the most anticipated aspects. With Capcom marketing the game as a fresh experience and continuing the canon into some new storylines, there will also be a set of comics that are coming out to capitalize.
Capcom has frequently worked with Udon Entertainment before, whether it be providing art assets for the Arcade mode ofStreet Fighter 5, giving fans a set of art books, or in this case, creating comics. Some ofStreet Fighter’s loregot expanded upon in these comics, such as the origins of fan-favorite characters, such as Akuma, Juri, and even Dan Hibiki. This collaboration will be continuing in this new set of comics focused onStreet Fighter 6, where the premise of one of these books and its central character were also revealed.

As revealed in an issue of Game Informer, the first of these comics will focus onKen’s plotline inStreet Fighter 6. This series will run for four issues, with this plotline giving a reason as to why Ken is now disheveled, on the run, and how he ties into the overall narrative of the game. The first four pages of this comic were also shown, which set up the basic premise and although there isn’t any dialogue, it gives a general window of what fans should expect.
From what has been revealed so far, Ken is being framed for a terrorist attack by the Mad Gear Gang, which prevents him from seeing his son, Mel. To clear his name, Ken goes on the run, forced to leave his family behind. According to Game Informer, this comic will also feature Luke in a prominent role as well. The game’s director Takayuki Nakayama states that this comic will also tie very closely to the story of the game, where the team has provided Udon with the script and storyline of the events beforeStreet Fighter 6.
Nakayama also states that beyond this first set of comics, they are looking into possible spin-offs as well. He then teases fans with the potential of more than just the initial comic book series that they’re working on right now. Alongside this set of comics, Capcom also showed offStreet Fighter 6’s new simplified dynamic control scheme, which aims to make the game more accessible.
