Several details have been officially revealed forCall of Duty: Vanguard, ranging from its multiplayer to campaign mode. It has also been confirmed that Treyarch will be developing the Zombies mode forCall of Duty: Vanguard, allowing the studio to expand upon the work done inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
WhileCall of Duty: VanguardZombiesis confirmed to feature a narrative that ties directly into the Dark Aether storyline, little else is known about how the mode will play. Still, given the incredible success of Outbreak inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it would make sense if the mode was carried over to the 2021 release. A solid open world experience that strays greatly from the usual Zombies formula, the emphasis is placed on looting and completing objectives as opposed to surviving into the high rounds.

WhileCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Outbreak modeis popular, especially amongst the casual portion of the game’s player base, it is not without its flaws. As such, Reddit user ItzAreeb started a thread that asks theCall of DutyZombies community what changes it wants to see in a hypothetical Outbreak successor. Unsurprisingly, the Zombies community was quick to share its thoughts, offering constructive criticism that would see the mode becoming a proper fixture of the game rather than an interesting experiment. Overall, ItzAreeb’s suggestion was one of the most well received.
The player asks for the nextOutbreak mapsto boast more of a distinct personality, something that they are lacking since the regions are pulled straight from multiplayer. ItzAreeb wants to see the maps looking as if they were destroyed by the undead, with smaller locations used as well. This sentiment was echoed by MastermindGamingAce, as the fan wants to see “more zombies” in each map. Given their size, players could go for long periods of time without fighting the undead, which can be boring.
Still, while some players do like the slower gameplay of Outbreak, nearly everyone in the thread wants fully original regions built from the ground up for the mode. With only the Ruka bunker fromOutbreak’s first main questoffering a fresh location not seen in multiplayer’s fireteam maps, the playspaces lack the personality seen in something like Mauer Der Toten. Others make some creative requests, like batmanobesemanplate’s suggestion for an objective where civilians need to be rescued. Finally, Redditor swez87 wants to see an eight-player version of Outbreak set in a massive city as opposed to warping to isolate regions.
Overall,Call of DutyZombiesfans have provided Treyarch with some fair criticism and exciting concepts to mess around with. Given all the potential that Outbreak has, it would be great to see the mode evolve further inCall of Duty: Vanguard.
