Call of Dutyoften adds new weapons as each year’s game progresses through its lifespan.Modern Warfare 3’s recent Season 1 updateadded three new weapons in the Ram-7, XRK Stalker, and Stormender. The game will also receive the HRM-9 and TAQ Evolvere with the Season 1 Reloaded update later in January. Season 2, which is expected to launch in early February, will likely introduce new weapons as well, and it seems that fans may have already figured out what some of these weapons will be.
Call of Dutyleaker el_bobberto claimed that a sword and bow will be added toCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3in the future, and also stated that “similar weapons” are coming as well. It’s not known for sure whether these weapons will be a part of the Season 2 update or an unannounced event. However, dataminers discovered files labeled “season2” that described the bow’s ammo types, suggesting that the bow might be added withModern Warfare 3’s next seasonal update in February. But this could also mean that the weapons are to be released during Season 2’s time frame as part of a separate event. AnotherCall of Dutyleaker, SemtexLeaks, found an image of the new sword.
What Weapons are Supposedly Coming to Modern Warfare 3?
WithinModern Warfare 3’s files, the bow’s ammo types are labeled as rip, broad, std, shotgun, he, db, and gas. It’s not known whether the bow will feature additional attachment options as well. As for the other potential weapons, El_bobberto did not specify what they meant by “similar weapons” also being added. However, these presumably include other historical weapons that stray fromModern Warfare 3’s mostly present-day arsenal.
Some fans speculated that these additions might be a part of the previously leakedWalking Deadevent coming toModern Warfare 3, since some of the show’s characters used similar weapons. The event will apparently feature the characters of Rick Grimes and Michonne, whose trademark weapons in the show were a revolver and katana, respectively.
The sword’s datamined render does not appear to be a katana, so it’s far from certain whether these new weapons will be a part of theWalking Deadevent. Fans of zombie-themed content are also hoping thatModern Warfare 3’s Season 2 update will add some of Outbreak’s better featuresto the new Zombies mode. Although the mode has been a success, it’s missing some key aspects that madeBlack Ops: Cold War’s Outbreak mode particularly enjoyable.
