The officialCall of Dutychannel on YouTube has a video scheduled to go live on August 06, 2025, which is titled “Makarov Reveal Trailer.” Vladimir Makarov is one of the franchise’s most iconic villains besides General Shepherd. At the moment, Makarov’s plans remain a mystery but considering his history in the series his actions will likely have destructive consequences.
The story ofModern Warfare 3will also be different from the 2011 game considering General Shepherd is still alive in this rebooted universe. In the originalModern Warfare 2, Shepherd was killed by Soap and the next game had Makarov as the main villain. However, since both Shepherd and Makarov are alive in this year’sModern Warfare 3, the game’s story could take a very different direction. At theend of the 2022Modern Warfare 2, it was revealed that Makarov-led ultra nationalist Russians had disrupted Shepherd’s plans, which could mean that the upcoming game could have the two antagonists working against each other
Along with Makarov,WarzoneSeason 5 also confirmed the return of Philip Graves. It was believed that Graves died at the hands of Soap in an explosion, but he is seemingly back from the dead as shown in a recent trailer.Graves’s return also has big implications forModern Warfare 3considering there are now 3 possible villains for the game. Additionally, Activision has also confirmed that the popular slide-cancel feature is also coming back.
