ThoughCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2fans have been positive about the core gunplay and visuals, the community is still up in arms about certain decisions. In particular,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2fans are angry about certain mechanics that favor campers.
Camping inCall of Dutyhas always been a hot button issue, as nothing is more frustrating than being killed by someone that has been sitting in one spot for the entirety of the match. Unfortunately, just likeCall of Duty: Modern Warfare2019, theModern Warfare 2beta does little to discourage camping. Whileanti-camper tools like Drill Chargesare terrific additions, they are not nearly enough, as the game is balanced in a way that encourages players to hold down one area and move as little as possible.

All throughout theModern Warfare 2subreddit and other social media platforms are posts about camping players, with one particularly entertaining video compiling all the issues rushers have with the game. Posted by xShadowZ, the video spoofsCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s intel drops seriesand highlights four particular problems rushers are dealing with. For anyone that has kept up with the discussion around the beta, none of these complaints should be shocking.
Loud footsteps have been brought up time and time again, as the issue is made more severe due to the lack of a Dead Silence perk. While Dead Silence is a Field Upgrade, being able to disguise footsteps a few times per match instead of the entire game is problematic for many. Another major issue is the mini-map, as Infinity Ward has abandoned the classic mini-map just like it didinModern Warfare2019. As such, enemy dots do not appear on the mini-map like players are used to. Lastly, a lack of nameplates make it difficult to spot enemies.
While Infinity Ward has been working to adjust footstep audio following fan complaints, and is working on ways to improve visibility, the developer is once again sticking to its guns when it comes to the mini-map and Dead Silence. As a result, camping is unlikely to become less common, nor are the accusations thatInfinity Wardis deliberately helping bad players. With so many things working against rushers, casual gamers that plant their feet in one spot are thriving.
With the above clip from Reddit user freddiewop highlighting the issue clearly, it will be interesting to see if Infinity Ward continues to push back against the calls for change. Though it takes a lot to unite theCall of Dutycommunity, nearly all players seem to agree thattheCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2betapunishes rushers far too much.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2launches on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
