TheCall of Duty: Black OpsCold Warbeta officially ended yesterday. With a finalupdate that unlocked all weapon attachments, it was a wild ride for players.

Players learned a lot from theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warbeta. StaunchCall of Dutyplayers had a chance to see what the future of theBlack Opsgames looked like. Obviously the new game would have to compete withCall of Duty: Warzonefor attention. So giving players from a different title incentive to try it out could help get more players. And that’s exactly what Activision did.

Not everyone was impressed by what was offered inCold War.Several streamers had criticisms about the game, citing its tired formula and some issues they had with its game modes. For the average player though, these problems were largely negligible. Cross-game promotion was also brought in to help players get engaged. Anyone who played the beta got a Russel Adler skin forCall of Duty Mobilethat they can now redeem.

Russel Adler is a new character introduced inCold War. He’s a CIA agent who will be important to the game’s story. InCall of Duty Mobilehe gives no special bonuses or powers, he’s simply a player skin. This sort of cross-promotion is not usual for theCall of Dutyseries, but it makes sense here.Mobile has made Activision a lot of money, so appealing to its players to get involved inBlack Opscould easily wind up selling more copies of the game toMobilefans.

The skin can be redeemed through a code received via email. Players will have to check the email associated with their account for theCold WarBeta, then use the code and password inMobile. Odds are fewMobileplayers got involved just for the skin, but if they did, hopefully thebeta’s cheater problemdidn’t cause them too much grief.

Only time will tell ifBlack Opsstands tall or really shows the age of theCall of Dutyformula. Considering someplayers suspect bot usage in the beta’s matches, there’s a chance Activision messed with the data. Whatever the outcome,Call of Duty Mobilewill no doubt still hold a lot of gameplay for its fans. Even if this Beta didn’t directly impactMobile’s gameplay, at least it gave players a sweet new skin.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris scheduled for release on November 13th for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
